Wrestlemania VII
wrestlingsitewebmaster4 September 2005
This Wrestlemania was originally supposed to take place outside of Los Angeles, but Vince McMahon scrapped the idea. This was because Iraqi sympathiser Sgt Slaughter was supporting the Gulf War and he set the USA flag on fire. So while brave American soldiers were dying in the gulf, McMahon made money out of this. In this writers opinion McMahon has a habit of doing this. McMahon thought a sniper would kill Robert 'Sgt Slaughter' Remus for real.

So many matches were crammed onto the card and so many matches were cut short.

Results from Wrestlemania VII are as follows:

  • The Rockers beat Haku and The Barbarian in an entertaining opening contest.

  • Texas Tornado beat Canadian strongman Dino Bravo in a very short match.

  • The Nasty Boys downed The Hart Foundation in a strong match. One interesting note is when Sean Mooney was interviewing The Hart Foundation before the match. Jim Heidhart said shouting "Knobs! Saggs! You say you're going to rock The Foundation, you say you are going to beat The Foundation! You say you're going to crack The Foundation! Well to crack The Foundation you have got to be right at the bottom and that's exactly where you guys are!" Read the paragraph what Anvil said, it means that they could crack the Foundation after all!

  • The British Bulldog beat the Warlord in a short match.

  • Jake 'the snake' Roberts beat Rick Martel in a memorable blindfold match.

  • Virgil downed 'The Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase via count out.

  • The Big Bossman defeated Intercontinental Champion Mr Perfect via DQ when Haku and Barbarian ram in.

  • Kitao and Tenryu defeated Demolition - Crush and Smash (Barry Darsow) - The Mountie defeated Tito Santana in a very short match.

  • The Ultimate Warrior defeated 'Macho Man' Randy Savage in a career ending match.

  • The Undertaker downed 'Superfly' Jimmy Snuka.

  • Earthquake defeated Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine in a short match.

  • Legion of Doom defeated Power and Glory in a terrible short match.

  • Hulk Hogan defeated Sgt Slaughter to win the WWF World Heavyweight Championship.

Overall Grade - B- There were too many matches, but I can't help noticing that too many performers on the show are sadly no longer with us today.

RIP - Lord Alfred Hayes, Gorilla Monsoon, Joey Morella (referee), Texas Tornado, Dino Bravo, Hercules, Big Bossman, Mr Perfect, Andre the Giant, British Bulldog, Hawk, Elizabeth.

Major turning point for many wrestlers
wwfhistoryguy12 April 2004
Warning: Spoilers
*SPOILERS*

This WrestleMania had some good matches, and unlike most others, no bad ones. And lots of careers took drastic turns after this.

The opening match between the Rockers and Barbarian & Haku was what we'd expect more from a TV taping than a PPV. It was fast and fun, without too much drama or storyline. The Rockers won only their second PPV match here, and it was right after their first at the Royal Rumble. This occurred right before the Rockers' lengthy split-up angle.

The Nasty Boys' win over the Harts was a blessing in disguise; it was now time for Bret Hart to blossom as a singles wrestler after years of being in the best WWF tag team ever and yet knowing he could do so much more. This was the best match.

The Warrior-Savage match could have gone the other way and things afterward would have been the same. Savage just took a break from active competition, while the Warrior became more or less non-existent in a non-televised feud with the Undertaker. Not to mention two of the most ridiculous vignets ever, as he got locked into a coffin and later bitten by a snake. These days, Savage would win.

This was not the way to see Demolition go. Jobbing to a team that was just making a guest appearance? Tenryu and Kitao could have fought Barbarian and Haku in the opening match, with the Rockers and Demolition settling their non-televised feud here.

The Legion of Doom were very fun to watch when they squashed another team, like the Orient Express. I didn't expect them to get by Power and Glory so easily, but it was a nice set-up feud to get them over in time for title contention.

This was the Big Bossman's last great win in the WWF. After this was a go-nowhere feud with the Mountie, then an embarrassing feud he lost to IRS.

Tito Santana and the Mountie could have had a great match, but it ended too soon. This was Tito's last match before his transformation, which somehow made him win more while making his matches less fun to watch. Remember his feud with Mr. Perfect? They put on some shows!

The unedited version is best!
alexanderdavies-9938211 December 2017
When various P.P.V events were issued on video back in the 1990s, most of the releases were heavily edited versions with footage removed from different matches. "Wrestlemania 7" is no exception to the rule but if you can find the unedited version on DVD, then this particular event is so much the better. Hulk Hogan's story angle with the champion Sgt. Slaughter had been accumulating a lot of heat for the past several weeks and promised to make for a highly charged and entertaining main event. The fact that the war in Iraq was raging at the time only added to the tension between the two wrestlers as Slaughter was portrayed as an Iraqi sympathizer. The match is the longest on the card but the time rushes by. Hogan - as the "squeaky clean" character - represents the United States as he carries the American flag to ringside. It is a bloody but exciting match and one of the best in either man's career. Originally, this Wrestlemania was supposed to have been held at a different stadium in Los Angeles. Potentially, about 100,000 people could have been accommodated but due to security concerns and poor ticket sales, this had to be cancelled. The resulting arena is on a much smaller scale. Mr. Perfect was the reigning IC champion for a second time when he was challenged by the Big Boss Man. The former corrections officer was involved in a story angle against the entire Heenan family during late 1990 to early 1991. Here we have a mixture of styles in the ring and the results are good. Curt Hennig (Mr. Perfect) was always great at selling the moves of his opponent and he does that just as well in this encounter. Tag team champions The Hart Foundation make their last appearance on P.P.V as a team in a tough title defence against a relatively new team, The Nasty Boys. In all honesty, I was initially stunned by the outcome but in the long term it made sense. The Nasty Boys would employ similar tactics against Legion of Doom - producing a somewhat different outcome. The match that some fans seem to remember the most, is the career ending match between The Ultimate Warrior and Macho King Randy Savage. A lot was on the line in this one and both wrestlers give 100%! It isn't the kind of match that can be summed up in just a few minutes and I'm glad it went on for longer. The remaining matches are mid card affairs and they range from being great to being average. The tag team of Demolition - once the most dominant team in the WWE - had been reduced to mid card status. Their match against a Japanese team is rather mundane and disappointing. The British Bulldog was at the beginning of a highly successful singles career and he takes on the monstrous Warlord. This is about power vs. power but Davey Boy Smith could add considerable speed and finesse to his ability. The Undertaker hadn't long taken on Paul Bearer as his manager when he fought "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka in a fairly good match. It doesn't last long but it is great to see the Grim Reaper in his first Wrestlemania. The Legion of Doom were rapidly becoming a force to be reckoned with since joining the company in July 1990. At Wrestlemania 7, they engaged in a squash match against Power and Glory. Hawk and Animal simply do what they do best and to perfection. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine engaged in a match against Earthquake and the result is predictable. The opening match between The Rockers and Haku and The Barbarian is a terrific one. There are a few twists and turns which lead to a great climax. The match between Virgil and "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase is a big disappointment in my opinion. From a story angle perspective, I understood why this all came about after what occurred between the two at the Royal Rumble that same year. However, the choreography could have been much better and the match on for longer. The rather stupid ending hardly helps. Rowdy Roddy Piper makes a welcome appearance as he comes to ringside in Virgil's corner. Kerry Von Erich against Dino Bravo is OK but nothing special. Both wrestlers were confirmed mid carders. The Mountie made an early appearance in his career at the WWE and quickly establishes himself as a considerable heel. His match against Tito Santana is very poor. Jake Roberts was in the middle of a feud against The Model Rick Martel when they had this blind fold match. It doesn't really work as the choreography is disrupted all the time. The result makes it worthwhile though. Overall, I would rate this Wrestlemania on the top 10 of the greatest of all time.

A definite classic
Stone_Cold9 April 2004
Wrestlemania 7 is one of the all time classic-wrestling events, and is well worth watching, especially for those who like a bit of nostalgia.

Its great to watch because these are some of the classic wrestling stars in their prime. Hulk Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Mr Perfect, Andre the Giant and the Legion of doom are all here.

Macho Man Randy Savage versus the Ultimate Warrior in a loser must retire match is one of the all time classics, this match had everything - they told a great story and the ending was the icing on the cake, and a perfect way to end someone's career, (although these stipulations are never honoured, just look how many times the McMahon's have been `fired' or have lost these type of matches in recent years).

There are some other great matches on here, including the Nasty Boys versus the Hart Foundation, Mr Perfect (one of my personal favourites) versus The Big Boss Man, and although it was a silly idea, Jake the Snake versus Rick Martel in a blindfold match provided a fair bit of entertainment. The main event was Hulk Hogan versus Sgt Slaughter for the Title.

Plenty of the legends are here, and although some weren't used properly on the night (demolition), it still made for a great event and is well worth watching now to see how great things were, before the McMahons decided that they were the real stars.

A Transitional Event Featuring Much New Talent
zkonedog4 March 2017
More than any other period to this point in Wrestlemania history, it seems as if the entire WWF roster changed from VI to VII. Yet, it is pretty much a change for the better, as older, less relevant wrestlers take a back seat to a whole new generation.

The highlights of this event for me include:

-The British Bulldog (always a fan-favorite) in a singles match with The Warlord. -The Hart Foundation (now solidly in the babyface camp) taking on the new Nasty Boys tag team. -The first WM appearance for The Undertaker (with Paul Bearer, of course!) -The epic "retirement match" between "Macho King" Randy Savage and the Ultimate Warrior. Probably the best overall match of the entire event in terms of both execution and excitement. -Mr. Perfect, one of the greatest technical wrestlers the WWF had ever seen, against the Big Boss Man, who could execute moves very well for a big guy and had a great persona to boot. -Even the Virgil/DiBiase feud was kind of fun.

Ironically enough, however, the reason I can't give Wrestlemania VII the full five stars is because the final Hulk Hogan vs. Sgt. Slaughter match just isn't very good at all. The buildup is incredible and it may have been one of the most publicized matches of all-time playing on the tensions surrounding the Gulf War at the time, but the match just doesn't live up to the hype. Nowhere near the Hulk/Warrior clash of a year earlier.

There is also a shakeup in the broadcast booth for this event, with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan replacing Jesse "The Body" Ventura beside Gorilla Monsoon. I have always thought that "The Body" was one of the best color commentators the WWF ever had, and while "The Brain" is okay, that great Monsoon/Ventura chemistry is no longer apparent.

Overall, though, this is a solid Wrestlemania. What it lacks in a "grand finale" it more than makes up for with an infusion of new, fresh talent into the business.

Disappointing WrestleMania
PyroPlasmX20 March 2006
I do enjoy the classic WrestleMania's. But this one was not that good from start to finish. First you have to look at the fact that they only sold about 16,000 tickets and had to move the event to a smaller arena. Then they called it the largest Pay-Per-View audience in history despite the fact the buy rates were pretty bad.

As far as the matches go there were none that really stand out in my mind as classics. In fact Demolition vs Tenryu & Kitao is one of the worst WrestleMania matches of all time. The Savage vs. Warrior match is called a classic and it did have some good momentum changes but the Warrior required someone to give him a good match but Savage wasn't the guy to do that. The Mr. Perfect match was decent but it's hard to pull a good match when you are facing a man as big as Big Boss Man.

Finally there is the main event of Sgt. Slaughter vs. Hulk Hogan. I think by this time people were getting a little bored with Hogan in WrestleMania. The story for this match wasn't very good and the actual match itself was kinda boring. Had I seen this back in 1991 I would have loved but it now I realize that there are many better WrestleMania's than this one.

My first Wrestlemania!
jimjam20-227 July 2000
I was in 6th grade for this show and it was my first ever Wrestlemania!...the Warrior/Savage match is one of my all time favs with a classic ending...and most of weaker matches are pretty short....main event was nothing special, Hogan/Slaughter, but like I said, it was my first....so its a sentimental fav of mine....I would say 9 out of 10 stars

Not bad but a pretty forgettable WrestleMania
morantjavonte13 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
7th annual WrestleMania taking place in the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. This caused a lower attendance compared to the previous WrestleManias as far back as WrestleMania 3 due to this being in an arena rather than a stadium or coliseum. The reason was for the WWF staff being concerned over a controversial storyline involving Sgt Slaughter who was portrayed as some kind of heel terrorist in a feud against Hulk Hogan. Security was a concerned for dumb fans who really were against Slaughter. Other than that feud, this PPV is also Memorable for the Undertaker's first WrestleMania debut which is the start of the legendary streak that made WrestleMania even more interesting over the next 2 decades. Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage also had a feud with each other's career on the line which later would be Savage's last run as a full-time competitor in the WWF before going part time in his last few years of the WWF. This is also the last time Jesse Ventura and Gorilla Moonsoon would be at commentary together. Honestly they rival Jim Ross and Jerry the King Lawler for best announced team in history of Wrestling.

The Good - Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior really stole the show. If you thought Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior was great, this is something to see as well if you're a fan of the Ultimate Warrior as this is probably arguably his greatest match of his career. It match honestly overshadowed the main event. Savage reuniting with Elizabeth from the crowd was a great good bye as well as his then-wife was also with him in the beginning and it made a lot of sense to send off with her. Seeing her come in saving from Sherri got her a huge pop. Watching this PPV from a later standpoint also makes you enjoy Undertaker vs. Jimmy Snuka more due to the fact that we know this is the begining of something special in the history books. Undertaker also despite being a heel was so over with the crowd. It made sense that he became a Babyface a year later. The first half of the show too was astonishing with a good undercard.

The Meh - Once more, some time wasted with additional matches that weren't needed but they weren't as bad as the previous WrestleManias.

The Bad - Remember when I said the show had a first half that was astonishing. Well the show went downhill after Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage. Most of the matches were not well interested by the crowd as they were tired. Ted DiBiase vs. Virgil looked liked it been really build up but it was dull. Jake Roberts vs. Rick Martel was just plain stupid. A blind fold match? Really? I believe it was ment for comedy but it was plain dumb. As for the main event, I found it to be a lackluster. Hulk Hogan winning the title by this point was said to exhaust fans by this time. Here the crowd was still over him but it was obvious mostly children and women are on their feet. Plus Slaughter cowering and getting beat up majority of the first half was going on far too long. Lot's of things weren't making sense either as the Ref was not disqualifying Sgt despite many rules being broken in the singles match nor was the ref even counting thus confusing of what this match is suppose to be.

Overall - If not for the first hour having good Performers and the glorious Randy Savage vs. Ultimate Warrior, this show probably would have been a Disaster but it still gets credit. It's a watchable show and fun to just simply enjoy. Definitely one of the weaker but not so bad WMs.

0 = Terrible: 1 = Bad/ Lackluster: 2 = Decent: 3 = Good: 4 = Awesome: 5 = One of the best of all time:

1. Rockers vs. Barbarian and Haku - 3/5

2. Texas Tornado vs. Dino Bravo - 1.5/5

3. Warlord vs. British Bulldog - 3/5

4. Nasty Boyz vs. Hart Foundation: World Tag Team Championship - 3.5/5

5. Jake Roberts vs. Rick Martel - 0/5

6. Jimmy Snuka vs. Undertaker - 2.5/5

7. Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage - 4.5/5

8. Demolition vs. Genichiro Tenryu & Koji Kitao - 2/5

9. Big Boss Man vs. Mr. Perfect: Intercontinental Championship - 3/5

10. Earthquake vs. Greg Valentine - 1.5/5

11. Legion of Doom vs. Power & Glory - Not worth it

12. Ted DiBiase vs. Virgil: Million Dollar Championship - 1.5/5

13. The Mountie vs. Tito Santana - 0/5

14. Sgt. Slaughter vs. Hulk Hogan: WWE Championship - 1.5/5

Best Match - Randy Savage vs. Ultimate Warrior

Worst Match - Jake Roberts vs. Rick Martel

Most Memorable Moment - Ultimate Warrior deciding if he should give up. seriously that Drew emotions once he refused.

Top 5 Performers 1. Ultimate Warrior 2. Randy Savage 3. Hulk Hogan 4. Undertaker 5. The Hart Foundation

Rating 6 out of 10: Decent

Wrestlemania 7: An underrated classic!
massage_monkey1 December 2005
First off, yes, the Slaughter/Iraq angle was stupid. But the Heat for the main event was off the charts and, shockingly, Slaughter carries Hogan to a decent match! The Warrior vs Savage is one of the best booked matches in history, and to not enjoy it is a travesty! A 5 star classic for sure. Some other bright spots included a great opener between the Rockers/Haku & Barbarian. Bulldog/Warlord was also much better than expected! Surprise appearances for Elizabeth & Andre the Giant just added to the big event feel here!

Sure, there was a lot of filler at this show too, but its still a fun card and was the first Wrestlemania I ever got to see.

A must to see for sure!

Not the best Wrestlemania, but not the worst.
kevinc568010 June 2006
If you look at the match listing for Wrestlemania VII, you're probably going to think, "Wow, there are a ton of WWF Superstars on this event. Don't be fooled. Guys like the Texas Tornado, who was an Intercontinental Champion, didn't get much match time. Demolition, a huge draw for years in the WWF, seem boring and not quite the same tag team you would've seen years before.

Now that doesn't mean there aren't quality matches on this event. The Blindfold Match between Jake Roberts and Rick Martel was pretty good, especially if you haven't seen it before. The British Bulldog/Warlord match was worth it. The Rockers/Barbarian & Haku match was a great starter. Of course you have the Ultimate Warrior vs. Macho King Randy Savage. Now I've read mixed reviews about this match. I'd say it's the Ultimate Warrior's greatest match. I think anyone can enjoy this match, but because the Ultimate Warrior didn't have the best ring skills, a lot of people are quick to write off anything he does. All in all, this match is very entertaining and one of the best on this event. The Slaughter/Hogan match wasn't all that, but because it was a patriotic, USA vs Iraq match, it worked for the time. People in 1991 were into it because, we were at war. Overall, it's no classic, but it worked for the time.

Wrestlemania VII isn't the best Wrestlemania, but it's definitely not the worst. I'd say the average wrestling fan can appreciate what comes out of this event.

Everlasting Hulkamania was quite boring at this moment
amanwhorocks4 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
First wrestler I saw on WM VII was Jim Duggan- that's not good beginning.

1. The Rockers vs. Barbarian/Haku - Yes! Shawn defeats Haku, nice opening match (fairly quick on Meng and Barbarian) 6/10

2. Dino Bravo Vs. Texas Tornado 5/10

3. The Warlord Vs. The British Bulldog 6/10

4. WWF Tag Team Championship: The Nasty Boys Vs. Champs-The Hart Foundaion 5.5/10

5. Blindfold Match: Rick Martel Vs. Jake Roberts - This was so ridiculous, crowd showed Jake Roberts way to the Rick Martel. Bleh. I like Jake Roberts and even Martel, but this match strictly sucks. At least they let finally Jake win some match on PPV. 3/10.

6. Superboring Jimmy Snuka Vs. The Undertaker - Taker's Career beginnings are full of atmosphere! 7/10

7. End Career match: Macho King Randy Savage Vs. The Ultimate Idiot - Slow punching match. And hey! Sleeper hold! OOooh clothesline - top of the match. Please guys, not so quickly on me. Warrior wins. Need I look at him dancing in pink boots again? Even it's shame that Macho lost, there was nice ending with Liz. 4.5/10

8. Tenryu/Kitao Vs. The Demolition - 5/10

9. Intercontinental Match: Champ-Mr. Perfect Vs. Big Stiff Man - Thx to booker that Mr. Perfect didn't lay for this unsympathetic slow fat O'hara 5.5/10

10. Greg Valentine Vs. Earthquake 5.5/10

11. Power & Glory Vs. Legian of Doom (formerly known as Road Warriors) - Fast and furious. 1 minute or 2? Sometimes that's better. 6/10

12. Virgil Vs. Million Dollar Man - NO, another appearance of Pajpa. :/ 4/10

13. The Mountie Vs. Tito Santana - Cheap shot 1 minute match. Clap, clap. 4/10

14. World Heavyweight Championship: Hulk Hogan Vs. Champ-Sgt. Slaughter- Did you see Invincible Hulk On turnbuckle sometimes before? :) Me not. And the match didn't worth t for. Semi-God is champ again. *Boring* 4/10

Sry, but that was weak show.

No feuds really settled but one
dave7822 March 2006
i really enjoyed this at the time e my first wrestlemania but looking back a complete waste it had probably the most enjoyable match ever Warrior Savage but the main event result was never in doubt this made the match completely unentertaining. Wrestlemania should where all feuds are settled instead of meaningless matches like bulldog warlord etc.A better card would have been Demolition vs l.o.d, Perfect Tornado rematch Rockers vs hartfoundation Jake vs model Undertaker vs hogan for the title. sgt should

have never won it. With talent like Dibiase and Earthquake around why bother giving sgt the title people would rather see a title match they cannot predict than hogan winning again

A MEMORABLE EVENT
Big Movie Fan28 April 2002
Warning: Spoilers
WrestleMania VII was just phenomenal for so many reasons. It was one of those events that had something for everyone. There were great matches, major upsets, debuts by certain stars and final appearances by others.

(SPOILERS THROUGHOUT)The main event saw Hulk Hogan battle 'Iraqi' supporter Sgt. Slaughter. At the time I thought wrestling capitilising on the Gulf War was very bad taste considering that servicemen were risking their lives in Iraq. The Gulf War ended in February 1991 and this event took place in March 1991 so really the Iraqi angle should have been dropped. But I cannot deny that the fans really enjoyed seeing Hogan beat Sgt. Slaughter to a pulp.

The undercard was just amazing. The Undertaker made his debut by burying Superfly Jimmy Snuka. Jake "The Snake" Roberts fought The Model in a Blindfold match. The popular Hart Foundation lost the tag team titles to the despicable Nasty Boys. The Mountie made his debut and beat veteran wrestler Tito Santana. The Ultimate Warrior beat the Macho King in a career match and it was great to see the Macho King's old flame Elizabeth reunite with him. There were other great matches as well.

WrestleMania VII marked the final appearance of two WWF icons. The late Andre the Giant made his last appearance here by going to the aid of The Big Boss Man who was under attack from the then unpopular Heenan Family. And we also got to see the last ever appearance of Demolition who fell to Japenese duo Tenryu and Kitao.

A truly memorable card which one can enjoy over and over again. This was the last truly great WrestleMania in my opinion. Since then we have had average and at times poor WrestleMania events.

Double Main Event!
bh_tafe318 February 2009
Warning: Spoilers
To be honest I've got no idea if this was actually billed as a double main event show, but it certainly should have been. The build to both big matches: Randy Savage vs The Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan vs Sgt Slaughter started at the Royal Rumble. On that night Sgt Slaughter defeated The Ultimate Warrior to win the WWE Championship thanks to Savage, who knocked out Warrior with his King's sceptre. Hogan had won the Royal Rumble, and even though that didn't officially lead to a title shot back in 1991, it certainly gave the rarely beaten and in form Hogan a claim to a title match, which he would receive tonight.

So it was Savage/ Warrior, with the loser forced to retire and The Real American Hulk HOgan taking on Iraqi sympathiser Sgt Slaughter. This show was considered a financial disappointment at the time it happened, though fans in nearly twenty years on can't complain as it gave us one of the greatest matches in WWE history.

The early matches saw The Rockers: Shawn Micheals and Marty Janetty defeating Barbarian and Haku with Bobby Heenan at ringside in an entertaining opener. Next up former Intercontinental Champion Kerry Von Erich defeated Dino Bravo in a short match, and the British Bulldog, on his own after being in a tag team with Dynamite Kid for years, defeated The Warlord in a slow match.

Next up saw the brawling Nasty Boys defeat the Hart Foundation, Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart, to win the WWE Tag Team Titles. This was a fun match. The Nasty Boys weren't great technical wrestlers but were rather good at kicking people's asses, which is what they did here.

Next up Jake Roberts defeated Rick Martel in a blindfold match. A risky match type, to say the least from an entertainment perspective. The Undertaker then defeated Superfly Jimmy Snuka in what looked like a fairly meaningless match at the time, but turned out to be the start of the Undertaker's long Wrestlemania undefeated streak.

Next came the first really big match on the card as The Ultimate Warrior, in arguably the best match of his career, defeated Randy Savage in an absorbing, outstanding contest. There were near falls aplenty, and both guys projected extremely well that their careers were on the line here. Savage turned on Queen Sherri after the match. He would be back wrestling within six months, while the Warrior would soon be gone, back, and then gone again.

Tenryu and Kitao then defeated Demolition Ax and Smash in a match I have no recollection of. Mr Perfect retained the IC Title after getting disqualified against the Big Bossman., and Erathquake defeated Greg Valentine.

Next up saw the Legion of Doom Hawk and Animal, better known as the great NWA Tag Team the Road Warriors defeat Power and Glory Hercules and Paul Roma, in their first Wrestlemania appearance.

Ted DiBiase's former slave Virgil, now emancipated then defeated Ted DiBiase by count out, bringing the house down. Classic stuff. This was followed by the Mountie, formerly Jacques Rougeau, with Jimmy Hart defeating Tito Santana in a charmless squash.

Finally comes the main event, in which "The Real American" Hulk Hogan defeated Iraqi Sympathiser Sgt Slaughter. Overcoming the unpatriotic tool and his offsider General Adnan in a decent match. Slaughter controlled most of it, really focusing on Hogan's back before Hogan hulked up, hit the leg drop and got the pin.

Hulkamania was back, sort of. But this would be a weaker, short lived and less successful version than the 1984-1990 variety. There was just something missing from Hulkamania in 1991.

Too commercialized (spoiler)
Sugar Salvador27 April 2002
Warning: Spoilers
This was an average card for wrestling but good for storylines. The best match was Warrior vs Savage it was a career match and even though they didn't follow through it was still great and Savage making up with Elizabeth was a terrific moment. It was mostly about beginnings and ends. The Hart Foundation wrestled their last match. Demolition was at the end of their run. It was the end of the "Macho King". It was the beginning of the LOD's big run and Undertaker's first Wrestlemania. It was also Davey Boy Smith's 1st Wrestlemaia as a singles wrestler. A highlight was the 3 year blowoff match between Virgil and Diabiase, it was really well done. A lot of people will diss the blindfold match but Martel had me on the floor laughing when I saw it. All the American flags and Sgt. Slaughter fighting for Iraq, that just cheapened the event and the outcome was never in doubt.
