Visitors to the Disneyland Resorts in Anaheim, Cal. were surprised to find three well-known rides closed Saturday (April 13). The resort had temporarily closed two keys rides in the Disneyland park, and one in Disney's California Adventure, after receiving citations from the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, according to the Associated Press.
In Disneyland, Space Mountain and the Matterhorn Bobsleds were closed, while Disney's California Adventure shuttered Soarin' Over California. Resort spokeswoman Suzi Brown says the closures were voluntary, as the company reviewed employee safety protocols.
"We constantly strive to maintain a safe work environment for our cast members and contractors -- and we are reviewing certain protocols," Brown says. The citations stems from an incident in November when a contractor was injured on the exterior of Space Mountain, while performing maintenance.
The Matterhorn Bobsleds reopened Sunday (April 14), however Brown says it is not clear how long Space Mountain,...

James Cameron is getting everything he possibly can out of the Avatar franchise he created, and why the hell not? Hopefully he just doesn't go crazy like George Lucas did with Star Wars in the process. Cameron is currently writing a novel along with two scripts for the next two Avatar films, and helping develop theme park attractions for Disney. He's previously worked with Ubisoft on creating a decently cool tie-in movie video game, now Cameron is discussing his plans for an Avatar Mmo project that he wants to launch around the time the next two Avatar films will be released. The guy is unstoppable!

I actually went to Disneyland this past Sunday and got to also check out Disney's new theme park, California Adventures. Interestingly enough it's a themepark for new disney properties. While the original is still commericializing Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald, ecetera, this new one has Cars, Tron, Bug's Life, etc. One of the sections of the park is devoted to flight. A ride called Soaring Over California is one of the biggest attractions in the park. I didn't think anything of it at first, but knowing that Disney is making a film called Planes which is an offshoot of Cars, it totally makes sense.
