Here’s a shocker: the BBC and Bad Wolf have reportedly replaced Millie Gibson as Doctor Who’s companion after she filmed just one season as Ncuti Gatwa’s sidekick.
The Daily Mirror’s Nicola Methven, who is well-sourced on Doctor Who, said Gibson would be replaced by Andor star Varada Sethu in Gatwa’s second season as the Time Lord.
The BBC and Bad Wolf did not respond to a request for comment. The story has not been denied and appeared to be confirmed by Gatwa on Instagram (see below).
The actor posted an Instagram story with a picture of himself and Gibson. It was captioned with “My lil” and the Gemini astrological sign for twins and a heart emoji.
The Mirror said the decision was made by Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies and Gibson will not appear in the 2024 Christmas special after her first full season, which premieres in May.

ControversyActor Vikram has responded to speculation over Anurag Kashyap’s recent remark that his film ‘Kennedy’ was written for Vikram but the actor did not respond to his texts and emails.A day after Anurag Kashyap revealed that he had written his film Kennedy with actor Chiyaan Vikram in mind, but had not received a response from the actor when he tried to contact him, Vikram took to Twitter to address the controversy over the remark. Vikram said that Anurag had reached out to him through his defunct email ID and phone number, but on hearing about it from another actor, he had reached out to the filmmaker and explained the reason for not responding to his messages. Kennedy, a Hindi film starring Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone, is set to screen at the prestigious Cannes film festival in France on Wednesday, May 24, under the Midnight Screenings section. In an...

Film AnalysisIt’s beginning to look as if the director, known for his absurdist comedies, is getting swamped by his confused understanding of politics and the need to fit star actors into the industry mould.Bharathy SingaravelCourtesy/KarthikSubbarajFacebookIt’s been four days since Karthik Subbaraj’s Mahaan, starring Vikram, was released directly on the Over-the-Top platform Amazon Prime Video. But no one seems closer to understanding either the film’s ideological messaging or its tumultuous plot. The hero, named Gandhi Mahaan, is forced from childhood to live by the values of a fanatically Gandhian family until at age 40, he explodes, drinks for just one evening, leading to his wife (played by Simran), son, father-in-law and brother-in-law having a baffling, extreme public meltdown. Then, Gandhi Mahaan, in Tamil-hero-style, slaps his wife, Naachi, in front of all his neighbours. Everybody leaves him, he turns to a life of liquor brewing, gambling and...

Kollywood‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ with its visceral violence is just following a long tradition of filmmakers choosing to show gore on screen to entertain audiences. Nandhu SundaramThe fact that one of our best directors – Mani Ratnam – has returned to his ‘Nayakan days’ with his new film Chekka Chivantha Vaanam gives us an excuse to examine the thorny issue of how violence is represented in modern Tamil cinema. I mean if we did this with regard to Saamy Square, you probably would not read the rest of the story, right? Violence, though not always graphic, is nearly omnipresent in Ccv. How did we reach this point when it became okay to show audiences such high levels of savagery? In Ccv, we are shown a paranoid world where brother turns against brother (in nearly biblical proportions) and gunshots mark every other scene. When a major character casually walks to a window, we...

Of all the many films that Bollywood churns out every year, there are always a handful number of films, that are remembered many years later due to their outstanding music, powerful story line and brilliant performances.
Tere Naam is the film in the spotlight this time and it is celebrating 11 years since its release. A film that has superstar Salman Khan playing the role of a rowdy college boy who falls in love with a very simple girl Bhumika Chawla. As in most bollywood love stories, fate always has its plans for the lovers, but in Tere Naam this is treated very differently as the couple are separated in a tragic way.
The films soundtrack has amazing music by Music Director Himesh Reshammiya, whose songs in Tere Naam are remembered and loved even today. Sajid Wajid are the guest composers on the album. The film is directed by Satish Kaushik...

Chennai, Nov 25: Vikram feels that the actor within him would've still been dormant but for director Bala.
"I didn't know that the real actor within me was sleeping until I worked with Bala. After having worked with him in 'Sethu' (1999), I realised my potential as an actor. Had it not been for him, I'm sure I wouldn't have ever found the actor in me", Vikram told reporters here Sunday.
He was speaking at the audio launch of Bala's forthcoming Tamil period−drama "Paradesi", based on the Tamil translation of Paul Harris Daniel's English novel "Red Tea".

Nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley, the Cinequest Film Festival has merged film and technology for two decades. The event was an early adopter of digital capture and exhibition as well as distribution across all platforms from the big screen to DVD to TV to the Internet to handheld devices.
The tradition continues in the festival’s 21st edition with a program that includes 3-D programming and panels, including the world premiere of the stereo version of “Plan 9 from Outer Space,” two 3-D shorts programs and seminars on the art and science of stereo filmmaking.
Meanwhile, Cinequest is screening 173 films this year from 41 countries — 75 of which are U.S., North American or world premieres. Audiences are expected to near 100,000, with more than 700 artists slated to attend.
This evening’s opening-night film is “Passione,” John Turturro’s musical love poem to the city of Naples.
