Creepy.

Suito Homu, or "Sweet Home" translated, is the proof that even an 8-bit Nintendo game can be genuinely scary. The game is based around the movie of the same name. You control Kazuo, Akiko, Asuka, Taro and Emi, a group assigned to find and photograph the many frescoes (wallpaintings) in the mansion of the late Mamiya Ichirou. Rumor has it however, that Mamiya had gone crazy, and still haunts her mansion even after she died. Little did our heroes know that this was absolutely true. Mamiya locks the team of five in the mansion, expecting them to die of hunger. However, the team takes it upon themselves to investigate. Equipped with a lighter, a vacuum cleaner, a photocamera, a medical kit and a skeleton-key, you have to find out what made Mamiya lose her mind and get rid of her ghost.

The hardened horror gamer won't easily become intimidated by the game's visuals, it's a NES game after all. However, it's the implications and storyline what makes this game creepy, and at some points very disturbing.

Very recommended.
