Freya Allan is currently being praised for her standout role in this weekend's new release, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. However, many of you will know the actress best for her breakout role in The Witcher.
The Netflix series lost Henry Cavill at the end of season 3 and, after Blood Origin bombed, the next two seasons will be shot back-to-back, ending with a fifth and final batch of episodes (plans for another spin-off, The Rats, have been scrapped).
Talking to Inverse (via SFFGazette.com), Allan - whose role as Ciri put her on the map before being cast in the latest Apes movie - revealed why she's ready to move on from the Continent.
"The Witcher definitely set up a lot for me, just in terms of being my drama school and providing me with a certain level of confidence," the actress said. "You also learn so many random skills.

Netflix was building up their series The Witcher, which is inspired by a series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, to be a major franchise. In addition to the flagship show, they made the anime film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and a prequel mini-series called The Witcher: Blood Origin, with another anime movie called The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep and a couple other spin-offs in the works… but now it looks like it’s all winding down. As The Witcher season 4 heads into production with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia from former star Henry Cavill, Netflix has announced that season 5 will be the end of the show. And while The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is still expected to be released through the streaming service by the end of 2024, Redanian Intelligence and What’s on Netflix have learned that two other spin-offs, one...

Ciri in The Witcher season 3 – Picture: Netflix
While the third season of Netflix’s The Witcher was in production, the streamer quietly started the development of The Rats, a new prequel series centered on a group of teenage renegades who were introduced at the end of Season 3. Here’s everything we know so far about the new upcoming spin-off that’s scheduled to arrive in 2024.
The Witcher writer, Haily Hall, is on board with the project as the lead writer and will also serve as showrunner. Shadow and Bone and The Sandman director Mairzee Almas is attached to direct an unknown amount of episodes. This post contains spoilers for "The Witcher" book series.
Ciri is nowhere to be found. At least, that what the princess' parent figures Geralt (Henry Cavill) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) thought when fans of "The Witcher" last saw them recovering from the battle of Tor Lara. Season 3 of the popular Netflix series ends with the pair poised to head in different directions on a mission to save Ciri. Sorceress Yen takes on the task of rebuilding Aretuza after her mentor's death, while Geralt (soon to be recast with Liam Hemsworth taking over for Cavill) plans to track down The White Flame (Bart Edwards), Aka Ciri's long lost father.
That's all well and good, but it turns out Ciri (Freya Allan) actually ended up somewhere unexpected. After portalling to the desert and lizard-bashing her way out of there with the help of some creepy ghosts (or hallucinations), she ended up kidnapped by bounty hunters.

This post contains spoilers for "The Witcher" season 3 volume 2.
If you're well-versed in the lore of Andrzej Sapkowski's "The Witcher" book series, the final moment of Netflix's season 3 finale might have left you saying some variation of, "Aw, hell yeah!" If you haven't read the books, Ciri's last-minute name-drop perhaps feels a lot less significant, but it's obvious to even the most casual viewers that it's a major moment. After all, it's not Geralt that gets the last word this season, but Ciri, as she introduces herself to the gang of fellow survivors called The Rats after assisting them in the slaughter of their captors. "Call me Falka," she says, just before the credits roll.
This isn't the first time we've heard the name Falka: The character was first mentioned back in season 2, but audiences met her in the penultimate episode of the new season, during Ciri's vision-filled quest through the Korath Desert.

The Witcher has captivated fans with its well-paced character-building and converging storylines. And with season 3 on the way, it remains one of Netflix’s most popular shows.
However, it seems the streamer didn’t expect the series to become as successful as it did. Because, in early discussions about the project, Netflix executives suggested making The Witcher a single movie.
‘The Witcher’ is based on a series of books
Many fans may know the concept of The Witcher from the popular video game series. And while the Netflix project shares similarities with the games, both the game and show are actually based on an eight-book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

The Witcher universe is expanding even more at Netflix. With the upcoming third season, the departure of Henry Cavill as Geralt, and the prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origins, fans are ever so curious about The Rats. Andrzej Sapkowski’s books go far beyond the title characters, including a misfit group of renegades. The Rats was announced as a hush-hush prequel spinoff series that Netflix has not yet confirmed. New details reveal the series is underway.
Ciri on a horse in ‘The Witcher’ Season 2 | via Netflix ‘The Rats’ is part of Ciri’s storyline in the original ‘The Witcher’ books
In November, Redanian Intelligence reported that a new The Witcher spinoff series was in the works. Tentatively titled The Rats, the spinoff would explore a lesser-known group of characters that the series has never introduced. The Rats are a group of Nilfgaardian youngsters who are renegades, thieves, and even killers.

Exclusive: The Sopranos prequel The Many Saints Of Newark has set its final major lead role. Michela De Rossi, the Italian-born actress who made her debut in Boys Cry, has been set to join Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro, Michael Gandolfini and the just-cast Leslie Odom Jr. in the ensemble drama for New Line. Production gets underway next week in New Jersey and New York.
Details have been scant on many of the big roles, but I’m told De Rossi will play an ambitious Italian immigrant who comes to America and settles in Newark. De Rossi has never acted in the U.S., and her first trip to the states was to audition for this role, which was highly sought after. The filmmakers sparked to a vivacity and authentic feel she brought to it. Boys Cry was a breakout at...

There’s nothing better than silent films accompanied by live music and I’d go as far as saying there’s nothing better than silent films accompanied by the Rats and People Motion Picture Orchestra. And I’ll go even farther by saying that there’s nothing better than the 1922 silent spooker Nosferatu accompanied by the Rats and People Motion Picture Orchestra which is an event that will be taking place Thursday night, October 25th at Urban Chestnut Brewing Company’s Midtown Brewery & Biergarten. When does a funny story become sad? Typically in television, this kind of question is framed around arrested development: A grown man is still acting like he’s in college, and certain events force him to look himself in the mirror and say, “Getting that drunk and acting that dumb isn’t funny anymore. It’s sad.”
But what if it’s not arrested development? What if it’s unstoppable regression? Continuing its fearless quest to address the anxieties associated with aging, “Grace and Frankie” dares to ask if its characters’ wild misadventures aren’t actually funny anymore. Maybe they’re scary. Maybe these two best friends are losing control of their minds, bodies, and lives. Maybe they don’t even know it’s happening, as it’s happening. Maybe they need help.

Three Buster Keaton shorts: The Balloonatic, The Goat, and The High Sign will screen April 10th at 2pm at the Walt Theater in New Haven, Missouri. The films will be accompanied by The Rats and People Motion Picture Orchestra.
There’s nothing better than silent films accompanied by the Rats and People Motion Picture Orchestra. The group is a treasure and St. Louis is lucky to have them here. The group has actively redefined both the local music and film cultures of the area. The ensemble – equal parts indie/punk-stalwart and academically trained composer and musicians – provide life performance of new film scores to classic silent films. The Rats are hitting the road this Sunday, April 2nd and will be playing at the Walt Theater in New Haven, Missouri (about 60 miles west of St. Louis). The show starts at 2pm.
