Family show

I love this show. I recently found it on PureFlix. Except for a few dance shows there is trash on regular TV. I am not a Cyrus fan but I sure like him on this show. I love all the other characters especially Raul.

Nice country boy in the big city show.
jmworacle-9902511 December 2022
This was a down to earth show that had a religous theme to it. Clint Cassidy went East for what he thought was the love of his life. His experience with the police having a rifle in his gun rack for the first of a cultural shock. Then his experience in a chi chi coffe house was another. He then clashes with an uptight doctor when it comes to treatig patients,

He then starts a flitatatious relationship with. Nurse Nancy Nichol. When the pratice elects to sell to a medical coglomerate Dr. Clint is exiled. Finally after proving the new administator was cooking the books things get back to normal. With issues such as an young man who is suddenly orphaned being able to find a home to fighting the beauracy of the insurance industry Doc finds away to prevail. Then when it was decided to cancelled the show they rushed through the conclusion. I was so angry I wrote the network a letter of protest for the first time ever.

It's the best

I watch Doc every week and think it is the best show on T.V. Billy Ray does such a great job at acting as the Doctor that at times I forget he really isnt a doctor. All his shows seem to have a message and i find them to be very touching and so real. I wish he would sing in one of his shows cuz I love his music as well. He's the greatest. The other actors are great too. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy the show and really hope it continues. It is like a breath of fresh air to watch. Billy Ray seems to be so humble and down to earth. I would love just to shake his hand and tell him he's the best. I wonder if he really can ride horses as I grew up with horses all my life and rode in the rodeos. Keep up the great show. It's the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Atrocious
john-chick-110 February 2007
Seriously, consider the ingredients - a former country music star turned actor, bad writing and Toronto posing as New York. Cyrus plays a doctor bringing some good 'ol down home charm to the mean, selfish streets of the big city and usually ends up playing life counselor to his patients as well as curing their physical ills. It's like a medical version of The Littlest Hobo - except that The Littlest Hobo was nineteen times more watchable. I often wonder how distributors of syndicated television get away with this sort of thing. If I produced something this flagrantly sub-par in my line of work, I'd be fired and humiliated in front of my peers.

Recently Rediscovered on Roku Channel

Is it earth shattering TV? Not really, but it has great, gentle, loving characters and stories. Shows like this that show characters that have a good moral compass, are a dying bread. In my opinion shows like this are needed more now than ever - what's wrong with showing life and people the way things COULD be if we all tried a little harder to be nice. If you need some inspiration and "uplift" for your soul, watch this.

Anybody who liked this show has no idea what a good TV Show is.
madbandit2000200019 October 2005
And what is it?

It's taking chances. It's being socially honest. It's being truthful. It's not speaking down to your audience and not trying to convert them. Sure, people might not like sex, profanity or violence, but the quality of a show has to be important.

"Doc" has none of that, due to a plaid one-hit, country singer as a "fish out of water" medical doctor, trying his best to help the "weak-minded" in the "big, ugly, blue-state infested, Commie-loving, New York City" (AND IT WAS FILMED IN VANCOUVER, FOR PETE'S SAKE!!!).

If a show's supposed to evangelize, it'll fail. Despite having three seasons, "Doc" needed medical attention. So does its' network, PAX/I, which is a joke.

Wonder and Family Watchable!!!!
tbryant456903 May 2007
This is a wonderful heart warming series. It is a show that you can sit and watch with your family. I love the way he ends the episodes every time with an email message back home telling of what had happened and the hows and whys... I highly recommend this series. Billy Ray Cyrus as a doctor from a small time, moving to the big, cruel city is fantastic at playing the main character. The supporting cast also gives an excellent performance. I watched all the episodes on PAX TV when it was originally on, but now you can purchase 1 season on DVD. It is now becoming hard to find. I have several friend who want to purchase it, and so far no luck, except on ebay, and they keep getting out-bidded. We are all waiting for the other seasons. If anyone hears that they have put out those additional seasons, please let me know! Because it will be well-worth buying!!!!

Wholesome and for everyone!
LAVierkant13 October 2018
Not inappropriate one bit, everyone can relate to a character and/or circumstance without obscenities. Any age can watch and learn something while falling in line with it. It's just great all around. I hope Pureflix or someone can get the cast to continue the show with the kids and babies older now being it's been 14 years from the last episode. I'd love for a new show of where they've been and what they are doing now and continued with it's exciting wholesome goods filled lessons of love and grace. My 12 year old daughter is hooked on it and it aired while I was in high school. Wish I knew about it then.

This is the best family show on TV
alle886 January 2004
My whole family loves this - from the 5 year old to Dad!! We all think it's great and are SO grateful to have a quality show on TV that we all can enjoy! The characters actually have "character". They are more realistic and wholesome than most any other characters you see on TV. Thank you PAX!

You'll get hooked on this show
trigs176 May 2010
Doc just sneaks up on you. At first you think it's corny (especially Billy Ray's mullet), but then you start to go hmmm or ohhh because it really touches you and makes you feel good...I mean really good. It's funny and it always makes you kinda smile in the end because even though some of the situations and characters are awful, someone ends up doing the right thing in the end...sometimes it's even the awful person. We need more of that on TV. I'm so glad that gmc (used to be called gospel music channel) picked up this show! I watch gmc on Comcast 189 in Atlanta, but it's also on Directv 338. You can go to www.watchgmctv.com to find out what cable companies carry gmc. The acting isn't bad...Billy Ray really convinces you that he's a down to earth person (which he really is in life, not jaded like so many people in New York, who deals with situations straight up and with faith. I like that a show isn't afraid to show people with faith. But Doc doesn't beat you over the head with a religious message. It just makes you feel that there are good people in the world -- not corny, not goofy, not unrealistic -- just people who want to try to do the right thing. That's a great thing to have on TV these days!

i am 16 and when Doc first came on the air in 2001 me and my mo would watch it together every Sunday i have recently started watching some of the episodes on youtube.com Doc is a great show and there is always a message something that you can learn in each episode if more shows would be on the air like this one with all its values and kindness maybe the world wouldn't be so messed up i still remember watching the finale episode with my mom and the emotion in the last episode was so tearful my mom got all choked up it is just a terrific show and i still can't understand why they ever took it off the air i think that they need to bring that show back i would watch it and i bet that others would be happy to see not only reruns but a new Doc series and as much as billy ray Cyrus had to do with the show i guarantee he would be more than happy to come back to the show it is them kind of shows that teach you a little from watching them teach you to show a little more kindness makes you realize that even though all endings aren't happy that you can make the best out of the ending tat you are left with i think that Px did and exceptional job with this show and i would be so much more than thrilled to see the show back on and i know my mom would too when that show was on the air me and my mom bonded so much watching it and i am sure a ,ot of other families did to while watching it and there is just this hole in our relationship since it has gone off the air

Keep this show on the air, please!
PAangel4516 September 2006
This is one of the best shows on TV in a very long time. It is informative, realistic and caring. It actually shows the human side of our medical people. I know that there are many doctors like Doc...I have had a few. A few other shows that I watched and throughly enjoyed was: Touched by an Angel and Highway to Heaven. They too had such great topics. Many people could really relate to the situations in these programs. Like Doc, realistic problems were talked about and realistic solutions were found. Even the most touchy subjects are handled with great care so as not to offend anyone at anytime. Please keep this program on, it is one of the few that a whole family can watch together without having to explain things that shouldn't be seen or heard.

Keep up the GREAT work, Pat Evans

This show must go on
crystalnet2523-118 June 2006
To all those people who say this show is CRAP, you seriously need to have your head checked. the acting is great but really matters is the the message that they are trying to get across to you but you are just to stupid to realize this. The messages are really helpful and the lessons that they give are just as great, I say the show must continue as we need more shows like this. I may only be 19 years old but I can tell bad acting when I see it and this is one of the best shows with some of the best acting i've ever seen, it my not be one of Hollywoods greatest movies, but it has a message for everyone to hear and see. So if you don't like it then don't watch it, but don't try and tell other people not to watch it because you don't like it, let them decide if they like it or not. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS I HAVE EVER SEEN.

A Must-Watch
quentindugger6 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Billy Ray Cyrus gives his best acting performance to date on Pax TV's *Doc*. The plot revolves around a Montana man named Clint Cassidy who upon falling in love with a newspaper writer who accepts a new job in New York City, follows her to the big apple. Clint is a Doctor who maintains his profession upon moving to NY along with maintaining the manners and respect taught to most old school southern boys. Doctor Cassidy's ways are often challenged as he always seems what's best for the patient instead of the HMO clinic he works for. Each episode features a life lesson you can genuinely learn and grow from. More shows like this is what tv is lacking nowadays.

What a fabulous series!

I consider myself very fortunate to have stumbled onto this series. It is a wholesome, entertaining, interesting series, with great acting, fast-paced and compassionate stories, and a wonderful, refreshing moral sense. I talk about it to all of my friends, and even to people I don't know! We view it on CH TV, Hamilton. Thank you, CH

Great show, but recycled characters
sheldonlinda7 May 2019
Did anyone watch "Doc" with the very cute Billy Ray Cyrus? I loved the show, but I thought that it was really interesting how they recycled the MASH characters - changing the genders of the director and the clerk. They had the hot doctor, the loyal friend, the egotistical other doctor, the pretty nurse, the wise director, and the loopy but resourceful clerk.

LOVE THE SHOW!!!
wadams-1369231 December 2022
I watched it when it first came out. Then I watched reruns. While I was not a BRC fan at first, I became a fan through this show. The show provided a lesson about how we need to treat each other. Yes, many times the story line was predictable, you can say that about a lot of TV shows and movies. The opening song reminded me of what my Papa told me if I ever got lost in woods on the family farm, stand still and listen. That message is still true today wherever you are. Take a minute, stand still, and listen to what is happening around you. Slow down and enjoy today, take time to appreciate what you have and who is around you.

Good wholesome entertainment
skier1000-19 August 2010
I stumbled upon "Doc" after watching "Little House..." on the Hallmark Channel and was pleasantly surprised. This show worked for Billy Ray and I found it believable. The show was well written, the cast was well suited, and acting decent. TV needs more of this type of programming, that makes one feel good and is positive. Watching this show made me feel refreshing, invigorated and reminded me to believe in the goodness of people. It was nice to watch this uplifting, positive story and not the hateful, violent, cynical material and bad screenplay and writing that now fills TV programming in recent years. TV these days caters to the youngest TV audiences and sacrifices quality in favor of sensationalism and violence.

Will "Doc" continue?
claudine-goller28 August 2005
I do hope that "Doc" will continue. I continue to be impressed with the writing and performing on this program, and still believe that it is probably the most wholesome series of its type on TV today. (I am still "catching up" on the programs I have missed, so it will be some time before I can say that I have seen all episodes.) And wouldn't it be great to be able to purchase the complete series on DVD or video!

By the way, I was fortunate enough to have seen Billy Ray Cyrus in "Annie Get Your Gun" here in Toronto, and will be going again on the last night of its current run at Massey Hall, a venerable old theater. This is a new genre for him, but he is fortunate to be playing opposite Louise Pitre of "Mamma Mia" fame, and his performance was very well received. I am so pleased that I will be able to see this great musical again.

I love it

A couple of years ago, I went to Delaware on vacation, and nothing was on TV one Sunday night. So, I watched a show I had never watched before...Doc.

Since then, I have been watching obsessively. I love love love the show, my favorite character is Nancy, she kind of reminds me of myself. I'm always ready with a comeback. I also love Tippy. Gotta love a blonde. Thanks to PAX for making such an AWESOME show! My mom is thrilled because most of the things I watch aren't great for my younger sisters to watch with me. Its great that on a Sunday night, there is something I can watch that my mom isn't mad at me for.

I love Doc! I've missed the last episode twice now and still haven't gotten to watch it!! It working it's way around again so I might make it this time.
dreamer_night20 June 2006
The show is the only one I like that my dad also likes, for what ever reason he's not as fond of Sue Thomas. My mom likes both but doesn't watch them very often. I do as much as possible. If a book series ever comes out or they come in completely (all seasons) on DVD I want to collect them as soon as possible, for both Sue Thomas and Doc. My only problem is I wish Clint and Nancy would get together and get married and then we could see some of their life as a married couple (maybe it shows something in the last episode?).Also how Clint proposed, a wedding, any kids(if there are any of these), and info into what each of them do. Like does Raul become a doctor, cop, teacher or what and does Ms. Dewit ever marry, what do the Doss's do, etc. The only clues I have to the end aren't entirely reliable, besides I don't want to know until I watch it. (But I'm curious). Also is Doc based on a true story (?), I know the same people to put it together also did Sue Thomas and thats based on a real story.

Background music too loud during the show
cebyers9 September 2005
My family and I really enjoy your show, however, during the show the background music of piano and guitar are really loud at time and we cannot hear and understand the dialog of the actors. Would it be possible for you to tone-down the background music so that it does not drown out the actors while they are talking? Often the actors, during a emotional part speak softly but at the same time the background music seems to turn up the volume drowning out what is being said during that scene and we miss out on the context of the conversation between the actors which is usually key points of the show. If you all would turn down the background music volume it would improve the show considerably and be more enjoyable for us to watch and understand everything that is being said by all the actors.

Great show but music too loud.
aubreys117 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I found "Doc" several years ago in rerun and have been fortunate enough to pick up the entire series as it was repeated. This has enabled me to see the entire series. One of the best family shows on TV. The ending show was great and not predictable as most shows just seem to end without the result that is hoped for.

My favorite star was Nurse Nancy. After watching the series from the first to the last it was obvious (to me) that Andrea must have received some guidance to let her hair grow long and lose her "New York accent" -- good move. I hope to see more of her in other shows.

And yes, I believe that the music was too loud and some dialog was lost to the viewer.
