Introducing Sagar Alias Jacky!!
ghirimon19 March 2009
A super action thriller as usual by K.madhu. Jacky(mohanlal) is a renowned underworld don in the state, well supported by the chief minister's son shekarankutty(suresh gopi). together they run the clandestine gold business, with Jacky cleverly evading police and shekarankutty ruthlessly eliminating anyone who crosses his path. But tensions rise in the camp, as a result of jealousy from shekarankutty for Jacky's continued rise as underworld don from humble beginnings and Jacky refusing to be involved in shekaran's more extravagant business. gradually they become arch-rivals and there follows bloody violence with shekarankutty desperate to dispose of Jacky who in turn is desperate to come clean to support his mother and girlfriend who is getting discharged from prison after serving time for murder.

mohanlal as sagar alias Jacky is awesome(especially when introducing himself to ambika as "im Jacky, sagar alias Jacky" and puts on his ray-ban sunglass!!), suresh gopi as shekarankutty and ambika as news reporter aswathy also excels in supporting roles. More sagar alias Jacky thrills and chills watch the S.N Swamy scripted Irupatham Noottandu...

A childhood favorite

Warning: Spoilers
Dear K.Madhu,

Irupatham Nootandu is one of the best films that you made with S.N.Swamy. I remember it was one of my favorite films during childhood. Mohanlal was elegant in an underplayed role of a smuggler. This film was made before he put on weight. He performed some of the action scenes by himself. He gets to don some cool uniforms like that of a customs officer, race car driver and finally the pilot. Prathapachandran and Suresh Gopi had some of the louder scenes while Lalettan is usually in the background mouthing a smart one liner once in a while. Jagati Sreekumar provides the laughs. Santosh was Lalettan's sidekick Lawrence. The film had some great action set pieces including a gold biscuit smuggling scene and of course ..... the thrilling finale at the airport. It is quite politically incorrect with Mohanlal chiding Sureshgopi's Shekarankutty for dealing with "Nazranis" (a mildly offensive word for Malayali Christians). I re-watched parts of the film recently and well ..... er, it came across as funny with the loud background score and all. But it was thrilling when I watched it as a kid. I would rather savor my memories of this film rather than re-watch it again and ruin those fond memories.

Best Regards, Pimpin.
