The "Dancing Cane" and "Levitating A Lady" illusions have been already performed in The Magic of David Copperfield (1978).
The day before he performed the "Statue Of Liberty Disappears" illusion, Copperfield's collaborators noticed that they had miscalculated the height of the curtain that should have covered the statue from the live audience and the camera's perspective: the curtain was too short. The operation to make it as high as necessary can be noticed by the fact that in the footage the lower part of the curtain has a different color fabrics. This information is provided by Copperfield through the optional audio commentary included in the DVD-Video distribution of David Copperfield: 15 Years of Magic (1994).
The "Statue Of Liberty Disappears" illusion is the longest illusion included in this TV special: it reaches the length of 13:30 minutes. The measured time also takes into account the initial explanation.
This TV special was repeated Wednesday, May 8, 1985, from 10:00 to 11:00 PM EDT.
The beginning of the special and the "Statue Of Liberty Disappears" illusion make a really wide use of the original motion pictures score composed and conducted by John Williams for The Towering Inferno (1974).
