I am a fan of Moby and his crazy antics, At first I didn't really feel like listening to another artist because at the time I would just listen to Ween, The Residents, The Books, and all of those goodies. I started listening to Moby's music and I liked it, And when I saw that he made a DVD of it, I was hyped and here's the reasons why I think the Moby Play DVD is awesome.
(NOTE: THIS REVIEW HAS SPOILERS FROM THE DVD, IF YOU DONT LIKE SPOILERS THEN DONT LOOK AT THIS PART)
Okay, First things first we have to start with the 10 music videos, The music videos are in okay quality, But it's classic Moby. The music videos all together make around 33 minutes, Which is not very long but there's more ahead. The music videos are very great and it's nice for having around. Just staying up until 8 am in the summertime, Playing games with your friend while Moby just plays in the background. Anyway, I really like this section.
Now we're gonna talk about the 1 hour long Megamix, I loved this section as well. It has very great visuals and effects, Probably good to have for sniffing crack with your high school friends (Not saying I have done that) But the Megamix is very cool and very entertaining at some points. Overall this section is also good too.
Okay, Now we're gonna talk about the Jools Holland Live Show. It's nice to wake up too, Basically it's just Moby performing live with his fellows and having a good time. Not much to say about this one but the next and final one is very great and has a lot of detail.
Last but not least, We have Give an Idiot a Camcorder. It's a 20 minute movie of footage of Moby's touring adventure. Moby does a lot of stuff here too, He talks about what they have for the touring, He rants about stuff, He says stuff in a very goofy Scottish accent, He jumps in ball pits, Has fun with a fish puppet, Does interview with himself, And a lot of other stuff. This section is very entertaining and pretty funny at some points, And overall that's my review of Moby's Play DVD.
OTHER THINGS THAT I LIKED - I liked the fact that all of the sections play all together and repeat so that you don't have to keep pressing "Play All" over and over again. I also like how you can remix 2 Moby songs on what I think is either a CD-ROM or hard drive, Very cool. And one last thing is that l liked how the menus are very interesting, Even though they are still pictures of Moby in a blue room doing poses, They are very cool.
Overall, If you're a Moby fan, I suggest you to buy this DVD. Now probably soon I'll get the Moby 18 DVD.
