Backstory: The Long, Hot Summer (2001)

Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Angela Lansbury and Richard Anderson are among the cast members interviewed in this episode that takes a look at the 1958 film THE LONG, HOT SUMMER. The film ended up being a box office and critical hit but there was a lot of romance and drama behind the scenes. The romance centered between Newman and Woodward while the drama came from Orson Welles who was clearly a bit uneasy working with so many character actors. If you're a fan of the series then you already know that all the episodes do a great job at talking about the production of the films. The stuff dealing with Welles was certainly the highlight but one wishes that Newman and Woodward had gotten more screen time here.
