Good Lesson/Good Film
cathil3174 October 2005
I saw this short film at a film festival. It is about a black man (Yoba) who takes for granted the way things used to be and the struggles blacks have had to over come. He and his friends use derogatory terms to refer to each other, like the n-word.Yoba's character gets lost while driving and ends up in an old-fashioned backwoods dinner complete with a "no coloreds" sign in the window. With some help he has to find away to get away from the locals. As he tries to escape he learns what it means to have pride in yourself and the real power and meaning certain words held for others. It was a good short. It was not as preachy as I am making it sound. Malik Yoba as always is good actor and he is great in this short. The other actors were great as well.
