TORONTO -- The Banff Television Festival said Tuesday it will present its Innovative Producer Award to Canadian film and documentary producer Jamie Brown at this year's event. The award celebrates innovation and entrepreneurial excellence in the Canadian TV industry. "Jamie and his team at Frantic Films epitomize what it means to be an innovative producer," said Kevin Beggs, president of Lions Gate Television, the sponsor of the inaugural award. Brown, CEO and executive producer at Winnipeg, Manitoba-based Frantic Films, is best known for the documentary series Quest for the Bay and Klondike: The Quest for Gold, both of which aired on History Television. Brown will receive his award on June 11 during the CTV Canadian Documart. The 24th Banff TV festival is scheduled for June 8-13 in the Canadian Rockies.
