According to Peter Ford's excellent memoir of his dad My Town was an hour long film that ran on the Walt Disney anthology series. No doubt the folks at the Magic Kingdom meant for this to be a regular series for Glenn Ford, but it was never picked up.
My Town is Wheelerville, Ohio and it's leading citizen is Lucas Wheeler, the town banker played by Glenn Ford. Ford is a widower grandfather raising his two grandchildren Meredith Salenger and Parker Jacobs. The film is narrated by Salenger and it's through her eyes we see what unfolds.
The running theme in this show is that Ford's son who was the kid's dad was killed, but before that his daughter-in-law ran off and conversation about her is discouraged at the Wheeler house. It doesn't mean the kids don't want to know about Mom.
There are a few concurrent story lines in this pilot. One is Ford standing up for teacher Kate Mulgrew who inherited the health class and is teaching the forbidden topic of sex ed. The second is young Jacobs getting an idea that one of the neighbors with a ham radio is a Russian spy. That shows you how dated this is. Now the young man would have his personal computer along with half the rest of the town and would be researching his neighbor to prove his theory. Very few folks have ham radios now. Finally there's one of Ford's loan risks James Widdoes and Laraine Newman who moved here from Los Angeles because they wanted to open a small town diner. Unless they get help from folks who know how to cook that business is short lived.
