Sex & Nudity

  • Season 6, episode Home Invasion - cleavage.
  • April O Neil throughout the series often wears a short shirt that exposes part of her stomach; some other female characters also wear revealing clothing. There is the occasional bit of flirtation between characters.
  • In the Fast Forward episode "Turtle X-Tinction" Cody Jones as a baby can be seen naked as Serling the robot is changing his diaper.
  • The series features at least one humanoid female creature who appears without clothing.

Violence & Gore

  • Like other action oriented kids shows, the violence of the show varies considerably.
  • Martial arts fighting from various characters. quite heavy, but okay for kids. MUCH heavier than the 1987 series.The series' action is also much more realistic than the 1987 series.
  • Also in an early episode The turtles (leonardo especially) are beaten close to death by the foot clan and shredder. Heavy,yet tolerable.
  • Half-way through the show, All but one of the turtles are murdered in an alternate reality. No blood, but Leonardo is stabbed.

Profanity

  • "Tales of Leo" has one use of the word, "sucks."
  • At least one use of "suck" in the episode "Tales of Leo," as mentioned above, multiple "shell" puns throughout the whole series (i.e. "what the shell," "get the shell out of here," "it's a shell of a town") and a direct use of the word "hell" in the description for the episode "Past Present" respectively.
  • the Turtles use "shell" as a euphemism; phrases such as "oh, shell" and "what the shell"
  • In the episode "Playtime's Over" Jammerhead uses the word "buggers" which may be considered offensive to the people in the United Kingdom.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Season 4, Episode 19, "Insane in the Membrane" is very disturbing with themes of body horror, which may not be suitable for younger kids.
  • A lot darker than other Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.
  • The Shredder may scare some younger viewers.
  • Season 3, Episode 21, "Same as it Never Was" is very dark and very emotional. Do not show young or sensitive kids this episode despite its quality.
  • The character of Baxter Stockman may be frightening as he is constantly mutilated and in one episode has a body that deteriorates.

Violence & Gore

  • Shredder is decapitated by Leonardo in an early episode. He later found out to be an alien in a cyborg body.
  • Two episodes later, Sheredder beats down the turtles in an updated suit. Michalangelo's legs are broken, Rapheal's bones are shattered, Donetello's arm is broken,splinter is electrocuted, and leonardo is stabbed by Karai. All of these are showen quite graphically and could be shocking to kids

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Donatello mutates into a crocodile and turtle hybrid in a later series, he is eventually turned back.
