Ant and Dec returned to the UK’s Saturday evening TV schedule this weekend, drawing ITV’s biggest overnight audience of the year so far.
The veteran entertainment duo, who have already said this 20th series of Saturday Night Takeaway will be their last, attracted an average of 4.9million viewers for the launch show, with a peak of 5.6m, reports the Daily Mail.
They brought a dose of nostalgia, with throwback pictures of themselves on the very first show back in 2002.
This weekend’s launch show was the customary mix of competitions, musical numbers and undercover pranks. Saturday evening’s target was Simon Cowell, who joined the hosts to review how he’d been successfully pranked during the filming of America’s Got Talent. The judge was invited onto stage by two masked magicians and locked into a steel box, before it appeared that the single key had been swallowed, and...

Steve McQueen’s anthology series Small Axe and Michaela Coel’s I May Destroy You dominated the BAFTA TV Craft Awards on Monday.
Small Axe clinched five wins, the most on a night that celebrated behind-the-scenes craftspeople, but it was I May Destroy You that secured two of the biggest gongs for Coel: Director: Diction, and Writer: Drama. The BBC/HBO series was also victorious in the Editing: Fiction category.
Coel, who beat McQueen in the directing category alongside co-director Sam Miller, accepted her writing win. “I would like to thank every draft. There are hundreds of them, each living only briefly and sacrificing themselves so the version we watched that won this BAFTA could exist,” she said.
BBC/Amazon series Small Axe’s prizes included JoJo Williams for Make Up & Hair Design; Jacqueline Durran for Costume Design; Helen Scott for Production Design; Shabier Kirchner for Photography & Lighting: Fiction; and Gary Davy for Scripted Casting.

U.K. broadcaster ITV is moving ahead with plans to shoot “Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway” with a live studio audience, despite the country’s accelerating outbreak.

British entertainment hit Saturday Night Takeaway will not return to screens until 2020 after host Ant McPartlin revealed that he is taking the rest of the year to deal with personal issues.
McPartlin will also step aside from hosting I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here this November, which means that co-host Declan Donnelly will present the jungle format without his presenting partner.
This comes after McPartlin was involved in a DUI and went to rehab earlier this year.
Both shows are produced by ITV Studios, the commercial broadcaster’s own in-house production arm, and are two of the network’s biggest hits. Both shows have been remade in the U.S., I’m A Celebrity was remade for NBC, while Neil Patrick Harris presented Best Time Ever, a remake of Saturday Night Takeaway, for the same network.

Popular British television host Ant McPartlin pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of drunk driving in connection with a three-car crash in London last month that left several people injured. The presenter was fined £86,000 and banned from driving for 20 months, the BBC reported.
“I am truly sorry for what happened,” McPartlin, 41, said on the steps of Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court. “Higher standards are expected of me. I expect them of myself. I let myself down; I let a lot of people down. For that I’m truly sorry. I’d like to apologize to everybody involved in the crash, and I’m just thankful nobody was seriously hurt.”
McPartlin, who is half of presenting duo Ant and Dec for U.K. broadcaster ITV, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving March 18 after a collision in the London neighborhood of Richmond. Several people had to be treated for minor injuries, and a...

The hosts of the Ant And Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway Show, Declan Donnelly and Ant MacPartlin were forced to interrupt the interview, before the boys became too upset.
