nice looking supernatural thriller with little thrill

Well, I saw this film because some of the filming was done on my street, here in Zagreb. The film is about a man who drives back to his home town to try and find out about his childhood, of which he remembers nothing. He has been travelling the world, and now wants to go back home to his small Croatian town. He starts by trying to find his mother's grave, which is in a cemetary which is buried under water after a flood. He goes into town and tries to find work, and boards in his old neighbors house, because his childhood home is now rubble. He is warned the people he is living with are strange and dangerous, and then he begins to find out about a number of strange occurences in the town that may or may not be connected to his clouded past. The town in the film looks very interesting, but that is because it is not a real croatian town. It is a number of different towns and cities, put together. They show him standing on a walking bridge in Samobor, and then he suddenly walks into Trakoscan, and basically the director took all kinds of interesting locations from towns in Croatia and put them together into one fantasy town. Well, the film is not really scary, it tries a few times, but it really isn't, to put it bluntly. It has a couple of moments, but nothing really makes you wet your pants. There are some repeating motifs and little symbols, but they amount to nothing, when they could or should have. There are two filmed endings to the film, one Croatian style, one more western style. Try to guess what you watched. see the film if you have mild interest in Foreign film, but remember, the quality or predictability of the film is due to the lack of practice that Croatian filmmakers have, because the actual number of Croatian filmmakers could be counted on one hand. (And the amount of Croatian films made in our year could be counted on your hand)
