Sex & Nudity

  • In one episode, Motoko walks out of a bathroom in only panties. Presumably after taking a shower. (breasts are shown, albeit covered by a towel wrapped around her shoulders.) The towel around her shoulders is taken off, and she is topless next to a young boy, but this is covered by strategic camera work.
  • The main character wears revealing and tight fitting clothing most of the time.
  • No nudity.
  • While sleeping together, a boy asks Motoko if cyborgs can have sex. She replies if he wants to find out, and he hesitantly turns her down.

Violence & Gore

  • Some gunshots and fighting with moderate blood.
  • One scene has civilians being gunned down.
  • A villain is shot.

Profanity

  • Subtitled version: 9-13 uses of "shit" and "bastard", 3 uses of "bitch", and 1 use of "fuck".
  • English dub: infrequent use of "damn", "hell", "piss", "bastard", "ass", "bitch", "dickhead", and "shit".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Cocaine smuggling is mentioned, and cocaine is shown.
  • Occasional smoking and drinking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The style is political and subdued for the most part, but there are still some disturbing scenes.
  • Moderate violence, but infrequent.
  • One episode focused on a traumatized torturer who skins his victims (thankfully the acts are kept off the screen and brief).
  • Some intense shootings and fights.
  • A sympathetic antagonist's death might be upsetting for many viewers.
