I grew up watching this show, and I know every episode word for word. I feel that Esther Rolle was the epitome of a strong black woman struggling to raise a family in the midst of a jungle. John Amos is showing the world, that not all black men shun responsibility. He stuck around to give his sons the perfect example of what a father is. This show always kept me grounded, letting me know that regardless of the situation, that there was always a reason to keep hope alive. Kudos to Mike Evans, and all the other writers for such positive influences in a world that everyone had given up on. I don't remember watching Maude much, but I never saw any of these characters in that show. I only remembered Archie Bunker from that sitcom. I wish someone would enlighten me on how these two shows tie in together. I went to sound waves music the other day, and was happy to find that they have the box set of Good Times for sale. Every season. I was also happy to see Sanford and Son there as well. I thought that all of these wonderful shows were lost, and never to be heard from again, but thank God, for giving someone a mind to put these episodes on DVD for us all to watch whenever we feel the need for a little inspiration.
