Mera Pati Sirf Mera Hai review :

Sooraj Barjatya's Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) ran housefull for twenty five weeks at Satyam Cinema, Worli. Finally in July 1990, the blockbuster was replaced here by not one but two new releases. 12 and 3 pm shows was Mera Pati Sirf Mera Hai while Deewana Mujhsa Nahin played at 6 and 9 pm. In a first of sorts, I saw both the films together on same day at this theatre.

Mera Pati Sirf Mera Hai was typical Jeetendra South drama featuring Radhika as his patni and Rekha as his past lover. The rich and spoilt Radhika ill-treats Jeetu Saar and gets mighty jealous of Rekha who moves in as their new neighbor. She accuses her of having an affair with her hubby and then Rekha decides to teach Radhika a lesson so hard that she will be forced to say "My hubby is only mine!" as the title goes..

The film had its moments and was a one time watch despite looking a tad dated for the '90s. Admittedly, I ended up liking Mera Pati... more than its worth as my next movie Deewana Mujhsa Nahin was a terrible terrible one. It had probably secured a theatrical release only due to Aamir- Madhuri's super hit Dil (1990) which had released a month ago.

Both the films bombed at the box office and Maine Pyar Kiya was back at Satyam in all four shows the very next week!!
