TORONTO -- Hollywood power broker Lew Wasserman will be the subject of a feature-length documentary by veteran Canadian filmmaker Barry Avrich, it was announced Monday. Toronto-based Avrich (Madness of King Richard) will write and direct The Last Mogul: The Life and Times of Lew Wasserman, which is said will be a sympathetic portrait of a king-maker in a bygone age. "Power began and ended with Lew Wasserman," Avrich said in an interview. "There's powerful people in Hollywood, but there's not one powerful person anymore." Wasserman, who died two years ago at 89, enjoyed a 59-year career that included a long run as chief of MCA-Universal.
