Memorable drama
carolsh28 September 2006
Intentionally grim drama serial regarding the return from the Second World War of the children of two northern families. The Haywards are staunch labour supporters, the Warringtons owners of a soon to be nationalised coal mine.

A riveting story exploring the differing effects of the Labour election victory on working class and upper class life, as well as the disruptive effect of war on the love lives of the younger members of the families.

It boasts a good cast and solid writing and is long overdue for revival on a cable channel or release on DVD.

Worth a watch

A bit slow moving , but well worth a watch.

Really good writing and acting throughout the series.

The series deals with regular people dealing with the the aftermath of WW2 in the UK , looking for Political and Social change.

A very interesting period in history in the UK.

It's been available on DVD for sometime now and you can find a really good deal for the whole series in the UK if you search online.

Remember if you buy it from the UK it will be a region 2 DVD.

You can play them in North America via a computer with a DVD Rom player or a region free DVD player.
