The man himself Jeff Lieberman is flying over from NY to join fans in an intimate one-off weekend showcasing his most beloved works.
Throughout this special weekend, we’ll be showing at least 5 of Jeff’s films over two days in one of the Midlands’ only remaining independent cinemas situated near Birmingham, including his genre classics Just Before Dawn, Remote Control, Squirm, Satan’s Little Helper, Blue Sunshine…and there’ll also be introductions and Q&As with the man himself that you can be a part of!
In addition, you’ll also have chance to get together with other like-minded fans to discuss films, grab a beer from the licensed bar and browse the dealer tables selling film memorabilia and Blu-rays!
This promises to be a great opportunity for fans to meet the man in person, watch his films, ask him questions, get an autograph/photo…and maybe even buy Jeff a pint!

Brand new Boutique label Treasured Films follows up its inaugural release of The Last Hunter with something a little different; Jeff Lieberman’S satirical seasonal shocker Satan’S Little Helper (2004), available now from Treasuredfilms.Co.UK
It’s Halloween and nine year old Douglas (Alexander Brickel) is obsessed with playing his favourite video game ‘Satan’s Little Helper’, something he immerses himself in when his big sister Jenna (Katheryn Winnick – Vikings) comes back to visit. Before long Douglas happens upon a serial killer dressed up as the dark prince himself, and naively thinks his video game has taken on a new lifelike dimension. As the situation become deadlier, however, Douglas begins to think it may not be a game afterall as his family and all around them try and survive Halloween night from his devilish new friend.

Bloody Disgusting has been around for over 20 years – we started it in college for the love of the genre and it has been nothing but that for more than two decades. While the internet has transformed into something unrecognizable, we’re proud to continue to be who we always were and have never pushed rage or clickbait onto our readers. We do this because we love it and only work with writers who feel the same. We wear our authenticity on our sleeves.
This brings us to Screambox, a streaming platform that brings the horror 365 days a year. We were brought on over a year ago to bring Screambox to life and have spent that time developing an entirely new experience from content to the way you enjoy it.
We know the previous version wasn’t up to snuff, which is why we hit it with a chainsaw and left it in shreds.

Worms… it’ll get you fucked up!
The widely-celebrated, festival-sensation avant-gutter psychedelic freakout All Jacked Up and Full of Worms, from writer/director Alex Phillips, embarks on a limited theatrical roadshow run across select North American cities spanning October and November ahead of the film’s November 8th premiere date on the Bloody Disgusting-powered streaming service Screambox and VOD platforms, followed by an exclusive window on Cinedigm’s indie discovery platform Fandor.
In the film described as “a flamboyant, darkly outrageous new vision that mashes together retro grindhouse thrills with the squirmy depths of underground cinema”…
Working at a seedy motel, maintenance man Roscoe (Phillip Andre Botello) is always searching for his latest fix. When he stumbles upon a powerfully hallucinogenic worm, his days of dime-store drugs are over. Along with his new love interest (Dawkins), the pair embark on a delirious odyssey of sex, violence, and becoming one with the dirt.

The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox streaming service continues to slay with Cinedigm acquiring all North American rights to the horror mockumentary When the Screaming Starts, about a journalist who tracks a newly formed murder cult founded by a bumbling wannabe serial killer. And we’re serving up an exclusive clip from the film this afternoon.
When the Screaming Starts will release exclusively on the Bloody Disgusting-powered horror platform Screambox on September 20, followed by a wider digital release later this fall.
Fangoria’s Editor-in-Chief Phil Nobile Jr. raved that When the Screaming Starts “does for serial killers what What We Do in the Shadows did for vampires.”

In the 1980s and into the 1990s, there was a creative explosion for the horror genre, with countless filmmakers picking up a camera for the first time, heading out with their friends, and making horror movie magic together. Some of these movies remain favorites here in the horror community to this day, but there are many others that you’ve probably never even heard of.
Snapper is one of those movies. And it’s the subject of a new documentary from writer/director John Campopiano (Unearthed & Untold: The Path to Pet Sematary, Pennywise: The Story of It) that uncovers lost footage from the film that never was, telling the tale of two friends in Massachusetts and the killer turtle they *almost* brought to life in the early ’90s.

Jeff Lieberman first appeared on the horror scene in 1976 with the release of his movie Squirm. The film was well-received when it debuted, garnering praise for its special effects and pervasive atmosphere of dread. Aside from these two notable aspects, Squirm also accomplished something else that was incredibly difficult—a feat that one would have otherwise thought to be nearly impossible—it actually made worms scary. It has since gone on to become a cult classic, forever cementing Lieberman’s name into the lexicon of genre cinema.
Over the years, Lieberman would make several more films that would also draw acclaim from both fans and critics alike. With titles like Just Before Dawn, Blue Sunshine, Remote Control, and Satan’s Little Helper, he would further establish himself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of genre filmmaking.
One of Lieberman’s greatest strengths is his ability to write.

There are quite a few practical reasons why so many films from the slasher genre's golden era (late '70s, early '80s) are set in the deep woods: the locations are usually just a matter of finding a suitably creepy local park, film permits usually aren't a concern, and lighting & camera setups are often easier to accomplish than they would on interior locations or sets. But for my money, the backwoods make for some of the creepiest environments for survival horror and suspense, ever since the 1971 classic Deliverance had audiences squealing like pigs. By 1981, Jeff Lieberman had already established himself as a director of unique and entertaining horror films; his bizarre conspiracy thriller Blue Sunshine is a cult classic today, and his gruesome worm-invasion flick Squirm established his skill with queasy horror in a rural setting. Lieberman's horror output thinned out considerably in the years to follow, but he...

Jeff Lieberman is a writer, producer, and director that has worked in the genre numerous times (Blue Sunshine, Squirm, Satan's Little Helper, Just Before Dawn, Remote Control) and outside of the genre including kid friendly fare like The Neverending Story III. Lieberman is a director that is all about the mood and atmosphere and uses that to create heart stopping suspense. Most of his films might not be the most familiar, but he has done a solid job right down the line on every single film. If anything, he can be counted on for consistency even if he works infrequently.

After the 80's passed it seemed that - for the most part - the slasher craze had finally come to a rest. Successful franchises like Halloween, Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday The 13th had been siphoned beyond emptiness and any intrigue the sub genre once offered appeared dead and buried. Then 1996 rolled around and Wes Craven, Kevin Williamson and Neve Campbell reminded us that good directing, storytelling, and acting is alive and well with the surprise hit Scream.
The next couple of years provided a massive batch of 'fresh' copycats and a handful of Scream sequels. Forgive me if I sound old, but isn't rock and roll supposed to be a little... dangerous? That's what politicians are always saying: You know, how listening to wailing guitars, pounding drums and screeching vocals will send you down the road that can only end with your being crowned Satan's Little Helper. And never mind what will happen if you listen to the music backwards! Now, I'm not entirely...

Satan's Little Helper (2004) Synopsis: When naive nerd Dougie meets Satan Man, his absolute favorite video game character ever, on Halloween, he just has to spend the day helping him out. A case of mistaken identity leads to everyone believing this masked man to be a friend in a Halloween costume, while in actuality he's spreading the joy of murder through the town. Killer Scene: The best scene in the movie is undoubtedly when Satan Man pushes little Dougie, dressed as the Devil, around in a grocery cart, running down people in a parking lot. His victims notably include a baby in a stroller and a blind man. Darkly comedic, it's everyman's dream to just go wild with a shopping cart on a bunch of weaker people. KillSheet Violence: A lot of people die in Satan's Little Helper, though many are of screen and most of what we do see is fairly tame, with...

A handful of rather bizarre DVD re-releases are on tap this week for some reason including Evil Remains, Shallow Ground, and Satan's Little Helper; but at least they're accompanied by several new films, a box set of the entire Friday the 13th: The Series, a twin-pack of Carnival of Souls in both color and black & white, and Shaun of the Dead and Godzilla on Blu-ray!
My personal pick of the week is Clive Barker's Book of Blood (review here), which I had the chance to watch a few days ago and enjoyed quite a bit. If you're a fan of "Wtf" type flicks, then be sure to add 1972's The Reincarnation of Isabel to your shopping cart ... if for no other reason than to see Mickey Hargitay (the ex-husband of Jayne Mansfield and father of "Law & Order: Svu" star Mariska Hargitay) in all his glory.

Pittsburgh, Pa has ten days before all hell breaks loose. That's because from September 18th through the 20th at the Crowne Plaza, those fine folks that put on ZombieFest have broadened their horizons into a new convention, now called "Horror Realm."
The convention will feature the usual fare of guests and vendors, but this one also has an emphasis on horror authors and artists with sponsors such as Library of the Living Dead and Permuted Press, Rue Morgue magazine, and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. The con also features horror author panels and a zombie film festival, as well as contests ranging from jello brain eating, scariest tattoo, hockey mask art, horror trivia, and costumes. There will also be demonstrations by the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and a flash fiction contest sponsored by Permuted Press, as well as a live production of Pittsburgh's hosted horror program It's Alive. Of course,...

Stephen Graham ("Satan's Little Helper") has joined the cast of Relativity's "Season Of The Witch", a screenplay widely talked about here in Hollywood as "terrifying". The story revolves around a group of knights in 14th century France who must transport a woman accused of witchcraft to a mountain abbey, where the monks will seek to understand and destroy her powers, believed to be the source of the Black Plague. Graham will play a swindler and navigator in the period horror movie. Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman were previously announced....

When we last reported that Andrew van den Houten, producer of The Girl Next Door and director of Headspace, was set to start filming Jack Ketchum's Offspring, there was always a niggling worry that we had gotten our facts wrong, since it just didn't seem right to film the sequel to Off Season first. But we've spoken with van den Houten since, and he confirmed that they will indeed be shooting Offspring due to rights issues with Off Season. Best of all, they have Jack Ketchum's blessing, which should come as no surprise since the book's author is penning the screenplay himself!
According to van den Houten, they plan on addressing the events of Off Season early on in the film but are confident that Offspring can stand on its own without a lot of back story.
