If there are any burgeoning film buffs out there with the naivety of an acorn, STEALTH the movie might be amusing to them. But it would take a complete novice to the world of films not to see the formulas of the past all present in this offering. The movies of the fifties, had a standard formula for entertainment and this picture uses them all. The only novelty to this film is the complete lack of originality. The mad scientists' (Richard Roxburgh) role who creates the monster (AI aircraft), has been updated to make him and his monster more benign. It's really not his fault and he has a lawyer/congressman to prove it. The role of bumbling Igor or disposable character is updated to cool, cocky, but sympathetic air wing fighter partner, (Jamie Foxx) The handsome and rugged jungle adventurer, is now the handsome and talented (Josh Lucas) Jet Fighter Pilot. He has all the originality of a bus ticket. The only different characteristic our modern hero possesses is that instead being suave and debonair, he is mentality adroit, physically combative and corrosively abusive of command. Finally, there is the ever present Scientists' daughter, (Jessica Biel) who's been transformed into the token female pilot, who traditionally is plunged into danger, time and time again. Curiously audiences know she won't ever die but will eventually be rescued by the hero. In the classic movie, the girl was helpless and forever screaming, she is now updated to buxom, bikini wearing all American sweetheart. All in all, a formula movie if ever there was one. *
