Way better than the ESPN
movies-4649 July 2006
If you are in the US and you like football (or The Sport Known In The USA As Soccer), watch Republica Deportiva. If you manage to grasp the meaning of half the sentences, it will provide you with twice as much entertainment and information as any ESPN sport program on football. This sport is not about statistics, and numbers are not a good way to describe it (someone please inform the ESPN guys). The presence of nice ladies may look like a cheap bait for the average audience (male, 15-45), but ... what can I say? (it works, here's what I say) The coverage given by Spanish-speaking channels to the Football World Cup has been far greater than the ESPN's. There is not just the 90 minutes match: Latin countries (including the finalists Italy and France) live and breathe football 365 days a year. Football is, for them, part of life, poetry and a passion just as important as a wife or a husband. Republica Deportiva has been a good way to enjoy the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

I don't care if I don't understand
RNMorton31 December 2006
The misses doesn't understand when I'm watching this in the fall instead of those DEADLY pro football pre-game shows. This show has ENERGY! I don't comprehend a damn thing they're saying but you know what it really doesn't matter. What I do know is they have great humor and also a great enthusiasm for sports. Fernando Fiore (also anchor for Univision's World Cup Coverage) and Rosana Franco are the co-anchors, along with ex-goalie Felix Fernandez. The show features sports coverage and interviews along with pretty much anything else. In the tradition of many Univision programs it doesn't hurt the language barrier that Rosana (former gymnast and general athlete) and the waitresses at the sports bar are quite attractive to put it mildly. Loads of fun and great background (even for us gringos) if you happen to be concentrating on something else.
