The Reception is the story of four characters and the relationships between them. The movie focuses primarily around character development and interaction. The performance of the cast is great, there is awkward silence between some characters which helps to make it feel very natural and real. This might be due to it being volunteer work on their part because of the $5000 budget. The song that opens the movie is great, but i cannot for the life of me find the artist.
This movie involves many themes which are highly controversial, including homosexuality and HIV. This definitely isn't a movie for everyone: if these topics make you feel uncomfortable you might not enjoy the movie. If you cannot empathise with homosexual characters then you will probably think as little of this as you would about any other movie willing to touch on this topic.
I felt like I knew all the characters by the end and overall I found this movie to be very emotionally moving. Despite the low budget and lack of 'action' this is quite easily a movie I will hold in high regard as one of my favorites - I highly recommend it to anyone who is still interested.
