Victoria Justice, who headlined Nickelodeon’s popular series “Victorious” for four seasons and 57 episodes between 2010 and 2013, said in a new interview with Marie Claire that she feels like series creator Dan Schneider owes her an apology as she was “treated unfairly” at times on the show. Schneider also created the series “Zoey 101,” which Justice appeared on prior to “Victorious.”
Schnieder has come under fire this year in the wake of the Investigation Discovery series “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” which included many misconduct allegations against him from his tenure at Nickelodeon. Clips from “Victorious” were heavily featured in the documentary as Schnieder was accused of making his young actors do inappropriate things on camera. Justice starred in the show alongside Ariana Grande, Elizabeth Gillies and more.
“Something that was very evident in the documentary is that Dan had a very large ego,” Justice told Marie Claire.

Victoria Justice shared her reaction to the Quiet on Set docuseries this week, saying the program shed light on former Nickelodeon exec Dan Schneider’s “very large ego.”
Justice starred in Nickelodeon shows Zoey 101 and Victorious from 2005 to 2013. Both series were produced by Schneider, who was accused of workplace misconduct and sexual harassment by many of Justice’s peers in Quiet on Set. Schneider released an apology following the documentary’s release and later sued the show’s producers for defamation.
Speaking to Marie Claire this week, the actress and singer said her experience with the children’s network was mostly positive but that the docuseries did accurately portray Schneider’s “very large ego,” which sometimes “clouded his better judgment and affected the way he treated people.”
“There were times I felt like I was being treated unfairly,” she added, noting Schneider’s behavior around her was never sexually inappropriate,...

Dan Schneider, the former creator and showrunner of Nickelodeon series “All That,” “iCarly,” and “Zoey 101,” is suing the producers of the hit documentary series “Quiet on Set.” IndieWire has obtained the lawsuit.
Schneider says his portrayal in the Investigation Discovery series, which peels the layers back on alleged child abuse — including, in some cases, sexual abuse — on Nickelodeon series of the era, is a “hit job” and that his reputation has been “destroyed” by the popularity of the series. The suit names Warner Bros. Discovery, Maxine Productions, Sony Pictures Television, and directors Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz.
“‘Quiet on Set’s’ portrayal of Schneider is a hit job,” the lawsuit from Schneider’s attorneys Jana Moser and Richard McKie reads. “While it is indisputable that two bona fide child sexual abusers worked on Nickelodeon shows, it is likewise indisputable that Schneider had no knowledge of their abuse, was not complicit in the abuse,...

Dan Schneider has filed a defamation lawsuit against the producers of the Investigation Discovery docuseries “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” which uncovered alleged abuse and misconduct at Nickelodeon and became Max’s biggest streaming title ever.
The lawsuit, obtained by Variety and filed by Schneider’s attorneys Jana Moser and Richard McKie, reads in part: “‘Quiet on Set’s’ portrayal of Schneider is a hit job. While it is indisputable that two bona fide child sexual abusers worked on Nickelodeon shows, it is likewise indisputable that Schneider had no knowledge of their abuse, was not complicit in the abuse, condemned the abuse once it was discovered and, critically, was not a child sexual abuser himself. But for the sake of clickbait, ratings, and views — or put differently, money — Defendants have destroyed Schneider’s reputation and legacy through the false statements and implications that Schneider is exactly that.

Showrunners are the creative visionaries of a series.
They might not be the original creators, but they cover all aspects of the creative elements, evolve the show's vision, and decide where the story and character arcs will go.
They run the writing rooms, head the development, hire writers, and ensure actors are kept happy and that the budget is not exceeded.
Series are usually a collective effort, with writers giving their thoughts, but showrunners have the final say and are essential.
Where would the industry be without people like Shonda Rhimes, Matt and Ross Duffer (Stranger Things), and Ryan Murphy?
It would be mundane and repetitive.
Intelligent and prolific showrunners are the difference between a hit and a flop.
They set an unwavering tone for their ideas, and consistency is vital.
If the reason you fell in love with a series is altered or gone one day, then the connection created is absent,...

It’s rare when a documentary series makes as big a splash as that created by “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.” The five-part Investigation Discovery docuseries has been seen by an estimated audience of more than 20 million over ID and Max and generated a groundswell of chatter over its revelations about toxic children’s TV production environments – primarily at Nickelodeon in the early 2000s. The filmmakers responsible for the series that premiered on March 17 – executive producer-director Mary Robertson and co-exec producer-director Emma Schwartz – are thrilled at a reaction that they describe variously as “inspiring” and “overwhelming.”
Adds Schwartz: “I think one of the most exciting parts of that is really to see how many people are not just impacted by watching it, but want to take action or improve the environment in which these problems occur. Taking the work to a next level is something you would hope for.

While speaking at the For Your Consideration Panel for “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” Drake Bell shared that those who wrote letters of support for his abuser, Brian Peck, included “Drake and Josh” crew members, such as his “favorite director” whom he “requested” for the Nickelodeon sitcom and a woman whom he “worked with every day for four years” who was “basically his boss.”
Bell, who was revealed to be the John Doe victim in Peck’s 2004 conviction in Episode 2 of “Quiet on Set,” took the stage at the Saban Media Center in Los Angeles Tuesday night to discuss his journey around the tell-all docuseries. He was joined by fellow contributors Giovonnie Samuels, Bryan Hearne, Kate Taylor and “Quiet on Set” co-directors Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz.
When initially approached to share his story on “Quiet on Set,” Bell was “totally going to ignore” the offer.

Former kids TV producer Dan Schneider says he has no problem censoring Nickelodeon cult classics he created in the 1990s and 2000s that now may offend viewers.

It’s too bad the disturbing material the ex-showrunner claims he suddenly wants removed from old episodes of “The Amanda Show,” “All That,” and more problematic kids’ programs just re-aired over two nights at primetime on Investigation Discovery.
The sometimes-salacious true crime exposé “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” inadvertently raises an important ethical conundrum: In the name of exposing and confronting objectionable material, is it acceptable to air it again — even in documentary?
“It’s a complicated question,” activist Alexa Nikolas told IndieWire. The grown-up “Zoey 101” actress is one of numerous former child stars who spoke out about Schneider for the project. She’s also the founder of the Eat Predators movement, an initiative forged to end sexual abuse,...

As shown in Monday night’s finale of Investigation Discovery’s “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” which is now streaming on Max, former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell recounts the time he attended the sentencing hearing for Brian Peck, his former dialogue coach who was convicted in 2004 for his crimes against Drake and ordered to register as a sex offender.
“It was a different time, so I think it was a little easier to go to and from a courthouse and not worry about Twitter that night or TMZ [paparazzi’s] being there,” Bell notes of the time period before the advent of social media and the immediacy for news and information from the masses. “I get to the courthouse [and] it was the most unbelievable thing I’d ever seen. His entire side of the courtroom was full…full. There were definitely some recognizable faces on that side of the room,...

There isn’t an ideal place for the public to discuss child abuse allegations, but for now, TikTok might be our best option. That’s a precarious position for young entertainers and their advocates to be in as the U.S. government once again moves to ban the social media platform.
On Sunday, March 17, ID Network’s “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” began its deep dive into the toxic workplace allegations and child abuse reports that emerged out of Nickelodeon following Dan Schneider’s ousting in 2018. Within hours of the docuseries’ premiere, dozens of press outlets and at-home viewers started posting TikTok supercuts of the most damning moments from the first two episodes.
Tagging “Quiet on Set,” Stephanie Matto from “90 Day Fiancé” even made a video discussing her personal experiences with Schneider and the competitive nature of TV parents at Nickelodeon from when she was a young actress.

“Dancing with the Stars” Season 32 is back and it’s a bit different Season 31 — including having a new (old) home. Here’s everything to know about the season.
Where is “Dancing with the Stars” Season 32 airing?
ABC and Disney+. That’s right. After one season exclusively on Disney+, “Dancing” returned to ABC for Season 32, which will also stream live on Disney+. It is the first series to be simulcast on ABC and Disney+. Episodes will also be available the next day on Hulu.
“I’m very happy we’re back on ABC,” Derek Hough told TV Insider in June. “I think it was fantastic that we moved to Disney+ for a season. It did great, but I think that there’s definitely [still] an audience on ABC, a very loyal audience that may have missed out on last season. It’s groundbreaking in that I’ll be on both platforms as the same time.

Speaking to Total Film magazine, he said: “I’ve been working as an actor since I was 12 years old, and hoping to do certain types of work, and work with certain people. “The thing that’s been guiding me is directors and other actors that I would just adore working with.”
