Chuck has turned 65
dimitriskats3 February 2006
An action film starring Chuck Norris. Now, before anything else let me remind you the birth-year of Chuck, 1940. Yes, our beloved Chuck has turned 65 years old. The story is an interesting one involving the theft of a jewelry referred in Jewish scriptures which are badly presented on the film (cut for timing reasons). Chuck Norris along with all the other co-actors gives a persuading all-around performance with almost all the typical violent scenes revolving around diamonds, hence the title- someone "cuts" the diamonds). A low-budget film without the parade of smashing cars. A round picture without faults but nothing to write home about. A 6 out of 10.

Pretty good for an 80s movie. Too bad it's not the 80s
SnoopyStyle6 February 2014
John Shepherd (Chuck Norris) is a private investigator with a heart of gold. One day, he runs across attempted kidnap victim Elizabeth Teller (Joanna Pacula). She and her uncle Issac (Bernie Kopell) are expert gem cutters. Dirk (Daniel Bernhardt) is a murderer and raided an archaeological dig in the Sinai desert. He stole the Breastplate of Aaron from the dig, and kidnaps Issac to do a specific cut on the gems in the breastplate.

This is a pretty good movie if it was made in the late 80s. Chuck Norris, Joanna Pacula, Bernie Kopell, and Tracy Scoggins are great blast from the past. The action is explosive enough ... for the 80s. The fact is movie making has moved on. It's not like Chuck has gotten any better as an actor. He doesn't have the same moves as his younger self. This is no more than a relatively good B-movie.

Chuck Norris vehicle in which he protects an old Jewish against a relentless murderous
ma-cortes2 July 2020
Set in Spokane, Washington , USA ,the suspenseful plot centered around a two-fisted detective named John Shepherd (Chuck Norris) who comes to the aid of an aged diamond cutter (Bernie Kopell) and his niece (Joanna Pacula) . When the veteran Jew cutter is kidnapped John goes into action. This time Chuck Norris confronting an ominous psycho-killer named Dirk (Daniel Bernhardt) who will stop at nothing to get his aims . Along the way there is developing a screenplay revolving around diamond cutting , pursued Jewish people from concentration camps , jewelry robbing , a violent killer and previous Nazis tracking down a cutter . The past holds the key!

This Chuck Norris recital contains action-packed , thrills , car chases , chills and lots of blood and violence . Chuck Norris demonstrates still his qualities as an action hero on the fights against the largest-than-life murderous , an expert fighter : Daniel Bernhart , by means of punches , slaps , kicks , bounds and leaps . This is a film financed by Milennium pictures : Boaz Davidson , Trevor Short , Danny Dimbort , Avi Lerner , Danny Lerner , as long time ago Norris said goodbye to Menahem Golan- Yoran Globus , from Cannon film company , who produced a lot of Chuck movies . Large support cast formed by usual secondaries of the 80s and 90s , such as : Daniel Bernhardt , Bernie Kopell , Todd Jensen , Rick Avery , Marshall Teague and the always gorgeous Tracy Scoggins. This action-thriller is an inferior Norris film , in fact Norris was far from his best period with hits , such as : ¨The Octagon¨ , ¨An eye for an eye¨ , ¨Forced vengeance¨ , ¨Lone Wolf MacQuade¨ ,¨Missing in action trilogy¨ , ¨Delta Force¨ , among others . Rating : Average but entertaining . The picture will appeal to Chuck Norris fans though results to be a so-so outing , and after making this movie Chuck retired from acting.

It contains a moving and stirring score by Elia Cmiral , as well as atmospheric cinematography by Peter Moss , shot on location in Spokane , Washington State. The motion picture was regular but professionally directed by William Tannen . Bill Tannen directed in 1984 his first feature, "Flashpoint" for Tri Star and HBO . It starred Kris Kristofferson, Treat Williams, Rip Torn, Tess Harper and Jean Smart. He has directed ten other feature films for Cannon, Village RoadShow, Disney, ShowTime, Millenium, LifeTime, etc. Bill has also directed several television series', music videos and episodes as High tide , Mowgli , Epic adventures of Tarzan , Hollywood Detective . And some films as Night of Terror , Ozzie , Nobody Knows Anything! , Love lies bleeding , Deadly Illusion , Flashpoint and Hero and the terror with Chuck Norris .

Time to retire Chuck! Sorry.
supertom-316 March 2006
Chuck Norris makes somewhat of a comeback after a few years of TV movies. Cleary his sporadic output in the last ten years is Chuck attempting to slowly bow out of the movie business, or at least the ass kicking movie business. Now Chuck is of course a pensioner now and although he's in excellent shape he is, how Gibson and Glover might say "too old for this s**t!" It's true, Chuck has made a living some 30 plus years, kicking people in the head, he is much loved for doing so. Now as far as action stars go, Chuck is one who is a bit of a personality void. He doesn't really have the charisma of an Arnold, and somehow doesn't have star power, he seems to much of a nice guy, everyman, while similarly he didn't get by on his looks either. Sure Chuck Norris was a great ass-kicker, but wooden he most certainly is. Chuck never really had much personality on screen, even wooden stars like Seagal and Van Damme did. Chuck had some roles where he was okay and he plays the quiet, calm hero well.

Anyway what all my anti Chuck relates to is the Cutter. At 65 he now is heavily doubled. The fights are also poorly thought out and filmed in order to make life easier to include Chuck in his master shots etc. There are several fights in this film, all of which are markedly similar. Chuck swings punches like John Wayne cowboy fighting, on his master shot, while the coverage shots are filming his double from behind doing the same dull punching slightly faster, and throwing in the odd kick. In his fights Chuck is generally filmed waste up, swinging lefts and rights and that's it. The thing is he is participating in a good length of these reasonably long fights, especially when you compare that Seagal regularly gets doubled and sometimes isn't even there for his master shots. So the fights in Cutter are incredibly, that's the truth. The rest of the action too is dull, from poorly conceived shootouts, to lame car chases. Daniel Bernhardt, still in his action man prime, is also wasted and of course when he fights Chuck, the simple fact that they are filmed to hide Chucks double and Chucks lack of speed, Bernhardt can't do much.

The Cutter is best described as boring. If compared to Seagal's recent films, it's at least competently made but the plot holds no interest, Norris seems bored, and only Bernhardt, not known for his acting ability, seems remotely interesting as a character and performer. it's really just a dinosaur of a film that is kind of bottom shelf from the 80's and has made it's way to the present day. Only the score from Elia Cmiral goes beyond the mundane in this, and he proves reliable for these sorts of films, however his work here is a long way from his excellent work in The Mechanik and a country mile behind his apex in Ronin. This is I'm afraid perhaps the dullest film I have seen in years. I like Chuck, and it's a shame this couldn't be a great swansong for the legend but as it goes I'll have to whip out a copy of Delta Force or Lone Wolf McQuade and watch in his prime. *

The last stand from the only man who can touch M.C Hammer...
fmarkland3210 October 2006
Chuck Norris goes the Charles Bronson route and makes a cookie cutter action flick despite his geriatric state. Chuck Norris at 65(!) is still kicking away and if this is any indication of what we should expect from Chuck Norris for the next couple of years, perhaps it's not such a bad idea that he peddles total gym commercials. The boring plot involves Nazis out to steal priceless jewels for some unfathomable reason and so they kidnap an old man and so his daughter (Joanna Pacula) hires out the help of Norris who is less Invasion USA and more Missing In Action. Seriously The Cutter has to be one of the least action packed films of Norris' career, Norris doesn't do many roundhouses and relies heavily on gunplay to get him by. In fact Norris seems to be in his old 80's mode where he was ruthless in his stoic presence however there just isn't enough action. In fact the bus sequence which is meant to be a homage to Code Of Silence, just reminds us how much the mighty have fallen.

A Chuck Norris fact is that the chief export of Chuck Norris is Pain and with this movie, he has exported a good amount on his target audience.

Ed Wood can rest in peace after all...
lupinlevorace14 March 2006
As far as I am concern this must be one of the worst film I ever saw. For instance the directing, editing and camera work really got on my nerve. I was constantly under the impression of watching a very annoying music video-clip. I wasn't impressed by the performances either, especially Chuck Norris who reminds us that he just can't act and when he tries, it's more laughable than anything else. Even Bernie Kopell's acting job is left to be desired. Some people might ask what was I expecting from a direct-to-video Chuck Norris flick. The answer to this is "not much" and even then I was seriously irritated by this movie. I mean come on… even Jean-Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagall are smart enough to stay away from delivering bad one liner anymore. And when they do, they are definitively more convincing than our friend Chuck.

The only good thing that I can say about this film is that it's entertaining. Never for the good reasons, but entertaining none-the-less. Especially if you are among friends and… drunk.

Chuck's back! In a fast-paced, actioner worthy of support.
jeremyfredrikson6 June 2006
Geeze, with all the negative reviews I see on IMDb for the films of Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, and Don "The Dragon" Wilson, I have to wonder just what is the point of some of those reviews. Do those reviewers simply want people to stop renting these guys' films so they stop making money and movies altogether? I am on the other end of the spectrum. I want to see these guys star in MORE films (and in continually BETTER films). With that being said, here's a review from one of the "good guys in black".

THE CUTTER is definitely worth a rental. It's a fast-paced little actioner with touches of drama and mystery thrown in.

The film opens with a bang involving a hang-glider, a mummy excavation, and one mean villain played by Daniel Bernhardt. Then Chuck makes his first appearance. He's a private eye out to rescue a hostage being held for ransom. After he dispatches the criminals, an investigating detective asks Chuck, "Did you have to throw him out of the window?" In classic deadpan form, Chuck responds, "I needed some air." Nobody can deliver a line like that as well as Chuck Norris!

The rest of the story involves the kidnapping of an expert jewel cutter (Bernie Kopell, "Doc" from THE LOVE BOAT) and Chuck's attempts to find and rescue him. There are several show-stopping fights including Daniel Bernhardt's confrontation with an unknown grey haired agent whose fighting style resembles Jeff Speakman's kenpo moves, and a great close quarter fight between Bernhardt and Norris inside a passenger bus! Both of those are real doozies that should please any serious martial arts action fan. Overall, the fights in THE CUTTER are a little more reality based in style, and therefore shorter and sloppier than those found in many kung fu films, but hey, that's what real fighting looks like!

To add to the film's charm are a couple of lovely co-stars, Joanna Pacula (GORKY PARK) and Tracy Scoggins (BABYLON 5, DEAD ON). Both ladies are very pleasing on the eyes, and both have excellent chemistry with Mr. Norris.

It's great to see Chuck back in form as the star of a non-Walker movie (Although, I still can't wait for that next Walker reunion flick that will hopefully tie up the loose ends that were left in the last one!), and I hope he continues to make films on a more regular basis. His sons and brothers continue to show interest in working behind the scenes, and are lucky to have a great showcase to work with in their more famous relative. Here's to continued success for and from the Norris family!

Here's a quick list of other must-see Chuck Norris films for new fans: A FORCE OF ONE, CODE OF SILENCE, THE OCTAGON, AN EYE FOR AN EYE, WAY OF THE DRAGON (aka RETURN OF THE DRAGON), and SLAUGHTER IN SAN FRANSISCO.

Oh, and while I'm at it, here are a couple of other fairly recent martial arts movies that are well worth a watch, WAKE OF DEATH (Jean-Claude Van Damme), REDEMPTION, MOVING TARGET (Don "The Dragon" Wilson), UNDER THE GUN (Richard Norton), and INTO THE SUN (Steven Seagal).

Possibly Chuck's Worst Movie
Rebel_With_A_Cause_941 September 2012
When I see Chuck Norris movies as bad as The Cutter, it really makes me wonder how he got all the internet fandom that he has today. Now don't get me wrong I like Norris and i'm a huge action movie fan. I decided to check this one out since it was on Netflix streaming. One of the first things that caught my attention is that this wasn't one of Chuck's classic action movies. This one was released in 2005 back when Chuck was 65 so I figured that it wouldn't be up to par with his classic films, but would make for a fun viewing. First off, it looks as if no money went into this movie. Considering this is a straight to DVD movie, i'm guessing most of the money went to Chuck. The acting is also horrible in this film. You know you've got a problem when Norris is the best actor in your movie. However, you don't go into a Chuck Norris movie looking for anything but some good acting. That's where The Cutter once again fails. The action in this movie is some of the worst i've seen in a long time. The editing is so awful that I would have to call it some of the worst editing i've ever seen in a film. It's done so poorly it takes you out of the action and just makes you look for all the mistakes that were done in the editing. I like Norris and it's a shame to see him in such an awful piece of trash. Even if you are a fan this is one to avoid!

If you like Norris you'll like this movie.
HarryLags30 October 2016
Chuck Norris and Daniel Bernhardt star in this rather entertaining low budget action film. The story is interesting enough with a plot centered around diamond cutting and former Nazis tracking down an old Jewish cutter from death camps.

But this is all about Norris, and he's still kicking ass and throwing people out of windows while being kind to pretty women in trouble. Unlike Steven Seagal, whose fights seem to be just a bag of editing tricks, here you see that Norris is still doing most of the stuff himself.

It has a pretty unpredictable story and I found myself enjoying it probably more than I should have.I'm a fan of Chuck and Daniel Bernhardt so I had a good time with The Cutter.

For Norris fans, this movie is surely worth a watch and the story is intriguing also. So If you like Norris like i do then you'll like this movie. If you don't, go somewhere else.

Chuck Norris last solo movie
Maziun26 August 2013
This is Norris last movie , not counting his appearance in "The Expendables 2". What can I say ? It was a painful experience for me to watch this movie.

Let's start with good things . Joanna Pacula after all those years is still sexy . There is one really good joke here – "Told you, he was the bad guy". The movie is short , not even full 1 and half hour. The story actually had potential for good movie.

OK , now with the bad things . The director Bill Tannen directs it with obvious and annoying MTV-style. There are moments where the movie treats its audience as retarded idiots who can't remember simple facts , so we are forced to see some unnecessary flashbacks. The action scenes are badly placed . There is quit a lot of them in the first half and almost none in the second half of the movie. The movie deals with delicate subject as Holocaust in not very subtle way. There is lot of stupidity here . Chuck Norris only needs one pistol to defeat everybody. It doesn't matter that the opponents have Uzi or even better guns . He will kill them anyway. Also , what's with the bad guys beating Norris almost every time ? I like when action hero has difficulties , but this is just embarrassing.

Anyway , this is a bad farewell to Norris . I give it 1/10.

One of Norris's best..!
smiley-3228 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I saw THE CUTTER not long ago. It was a good film, especially in Chuck Norris's honor.

In this film, he plays as John Sheperd. A former police officer turned Private Investigator who takes on any job for a price. Following a job that went wrong.. after failing to save a daughter.. Sheperd's life is shattered, when he blames the police for not doing their job.

Determined to get over it, he runs himself into another case.. This time, when a diamond cutter's father is mysteriously kidnapped. Sheperd takes on the case, which leads into something more sinister. Someone has stolen an artifact from the Sinai desert, and the diamonds have been vanished.

Enter Daniel Bernhardt who plays Dirk. A ruthless criminal who works for Col. Speerman (Curt Lowens).. As the film goes on, everything about these characters begin to fall into place with some consequences..

This film is one of Norris's best. Although he maybe old, but still he's tough enough to play the good guy all round. Still beating the cr*p out of the bad guys.. Daniel Bernhardt who plays the villain.. He was good.. He was more of a ruthless assassin who just gets what he wants.. Killing people who stands in his way until he squares off against Norris in a climatic fighting scene at the end.

There was also Tracy Scoggins.. who I haven't seen on film for quite some time. She stood out great. She was amazing! And Joanna Pacula.. Great performance.. Still the same Joanna!

Bill Tannen's directing was also good. Although the idea of this fast forward sequence which we see in the film is good. At least, in some films.. It didn't drag on too long. Tannen kept the pace going right until the end.

Well, I had a great time watching this flick.. Good action from start to finish! 8 out of 10!

Fairly Good Film!
honey37319 July 2006
The acting in this movie was surprisingly good and very believable. Of course, it was fairly Hollywoodish in some parts, but I personally enjoyed it. If you are a fan of action, then this film is definitely for you. It has everything in that regard from guns to martial arts. Chuck Norris does a fine job of fighting and he and Ms. Pacula do a great job together uncovering who has kidnapped her uncle and why, but there is no romance at all between them. It does have a historical point to it as well, which I thought was interesting. I loved how it all tied back into the Judaism, that made it interesting if you are a fan of history at all. Some things happened way too easily for the characters, but some of it was believable. Spokane Washington is where the film was set, and coming from WA myself, I think that they could have filmed somewhere else that was smaller and had a far more interesting film with more scenery. All in all, this film was interesting and if you want to see an action packed Chuck Norris movie, this one is for you!

Sweet Mother Of God
orale_vato_loco6 October 2006
Where do i begin, well to tell you the truth i haven't gotta clue. Initially i thought it couldn't be that bad seeing as though Steve Seagal has made 15 movies in the last 4 years, but i was wrong "DEAD" wrong. The start of the film just was so uncoordinated while searching for the girl his fat enemy who mind you put up a huge fight by being chucks punching bag get's thrown out of a window only to hear Chucks reason for it. "I needed some air" who is Texas Ranger kidding. To cut the story short heaps of bad lines, the acting makes Batman and Robin look like a masterpiece this movie must have been mistaken for a new comedy movie cause it was joking. It was as painful as watching someone chainsaw my penis off while watching a new Steven Seagal movie.

Poor fight scenes
petra-5915 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Here is one of those action films that fall to pieces because of their sheer stupidity. How many times can a person be kicked in the stomach and punched in the face before it puts him out of action? So all the fights are quite ridiculous. But what makes everything even more stupid is that three times our hero (Chuck Norris) has a fight with the villain, and three times he loses. In fact in one case the villain even draws a gun to shoot Chuck and changes his mind. Why? Presumably because he realised it was Chuck's movie and therefore he mustn't kill him. A pity really. Because the plot wasn't all that bad, and a little attention to the fight scenes could have produced a movie that would have been more enjoyable. And let's blame Mr Norris. After all he was, together with his brother, the executive producer.

A 1985 action flick made twenty years too late.
dave13-129 August 2013
60ish Chuck Norris plays a retired cop and finder of abducted persons in this paint by numbers 1985 action flick which had the bad luck to have been made in 2005. Seriously, it was as if the creators were either blissfully or wilfully unaware that twenty years of cinema had passed under the bridge. Did somebody win an old Chuck Norris script in a storage locker auction and decide to shoot the thing? The generic looking vehicle chases and punch-ups would have been nothing special back in the days of Good Guys Wear Black, but coming in the wake of modern action opuses like The Matrix they seem downright anachronistic, like somebody starting a Nascar race in a Stutz Bearcat. Even the bad guys - an incognito Nazi war criminal and a black clad soldier of fortune seem badly dated.

At least the producers had the good taste to give Chuck age-appropriate female friends (Joanna Pakula and Tracy Scoggins); watching younger actresses cozy up to sexagenarian Chuck would have been just too icky.

Norris is always great but.........
ofp8575 April 2006
it looks like this movie cost ten dollars to make. I love chuck but damn! this is so cheesy. the camera work sucks, its bad folks. the editing, you name it. what really worries me is the same producing team and company is working on Rambo 4. oh no! avi Lerner eh? looks like we have the next Golan globus. man even they hired better directors! there is no way this cost ten mil to make. that may have been chucks pay. the movie the perfect weapon was probably made for just about the same amount of money when that came out and that looked 100 times better than this movie. chuck! please do something with better film makers.

oh and what sucks is that whenever he encounters a bad guy, hmm he just happens to know martial arts too??? and oh man, the close ups were killing me. the one extreme close up on Tracy scoggins' face were really bad! those wrinkles! oy vey

The Legend is Back! (Spoiler included)
italifiction21 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Chuck Norris finally got this project completed and Norris's acting seems uptight at times but does give a genuine facade that he's got a few films left in him. His physic is Total Gym Norris as his first real big production since Top Dog. Top Dog got released due to Sidekicks success or the potential of, as the studio was going for the same demographic. The theme of Nazi Germany is implied with the cutter that Norris's character goes looking for after the jeweler's daughter comes to Norris since he's been missing. The fight scenes are authentic and show that Norris can still move well, compared to Seagall who can't even stand on one leg and do rapid fires. The bus fight scene is very well done as its result is something you don't see much of. The obligatory fight finale is better than I thought. It's definitely choreographed but hey if it wasn't someone might get hurt. Overall, the production quality had 1980's written all over it, but sometimes it's good to nostalgic. Norris still has the confidence and his popularity seems to re emerged on the spoof level. It could do his career good look what it did for William Shatner.

Vanilla
Uriah431 March 2013
Chuck Norris plays a private investigator named "John Shepherd" who is investigating the disappearance of an elderly Jewish diamond cutter named "Issac Teller" (Bernie Kopell) who has been kidnapped from his home. What makes this odd to John Shepherd is that no ransom has been demanded and the kidnappers also try to abduct Issac's niece, "Elizabeth Teller" (Joanna Pacula) as well. Now, even though this isn't a bad film and it certainly has some suspense and action, there really isn't anything here to differentiate it from a host of other films in this genre. Chuck Norris is his usual bland self who gives his standard vanilla performance. Likewise, both Joanna Pacula and Daniel Bernhardt (as the the bad guy"Dirk") perform adequately as well. And while Tracy Scoggins ("Alena") is also in this film, her part was limited and this fact adds another reason for the lackluster final product. That said, if a person is looking for an average action film then this is certainly something they should consider.

"The Cutter" is an action movie starring everybody's favorite punchline Chuck Norris.
tarbosh2200012 May 2010
"The Cutter" is an action movie starring everybody's favorite punchline: Chuck Norris. The movie should be a no-strings-attached action flick and because it doesn't succeed at that, I can't help but be let down by it.

The plot: An old diamond cutter named Isaac (Bernie Kopell) gets kidnapped by Dirk (Daniel Bernhardt) and he is put in a cell to cut a centuries-old diamond. John Shepard (Norris) is the detective who has to save him. The problem with the movie is that it tries too hard. There's some dialogue and situations involving the holocaust that hurt the flow of the movie. It's distracting. The movie's heart is the right place though.

Chuck Norris does a decent job with the material he's given, but basically he's coasting. What Norris does excel at is his "martial arts". I put that in quotes because we all know he's pretty lame, but when you see it, it's still kind of exciting. There are two good fights in the film: The one on the bus and the end fight. The only problem is that the action is cut too fast to see, but you can make out Norris and not a stunt double (most of the time).

The movie in a nutshell: It's a 90 minute "Walker, Texas Ranger" episode with more explosions.

Chuck I like you,but give it up man, your finished!,
callanvass21 December 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I bought The Cutter in a bargain bin at a place her called Rogers Video for 5$. Chuck has never been known for his acting ability, but I am a fan of his action movies,so I decided to give it a chance. 85% of the time, I was bored by the lack of action, there are barely any fights, the story isn't very interesting and even Chuck himself looked bored. You have two great legit Martial Artist's in Chuck Norris and Dainel Bernhardt, why not give the fans a special fight, instead of giving us the crap they did. I was just so disappointed in it all,how on earth could they screw that one up?. The story itself is routine and unimaginative,Diamonds??..We've seen this story too many times before and done better at that. Did Chuck need a decent paycheck that badly?..this sure looked like a paycheck film,I didn't see the point of this film being made what so ever. I really should stop watching all these DTV action films, but every once in a while you find a surprising gem in a batch, however The Cutler is definitely not one of them. If you wanna see some good Chuck films, perhaps you should go back to his glory days and start there.

Performances. Chuck Norris looks asleep for the most part of the film. Why did he make this film,if he didn't care about it?. He looked so bored half the time, only showing up for a couple of fight scenes. The charisma is non existent, his dialog is awful..what happened Chuck?. Joanna Pacula is OK. She's pretty but not much else. Daniel Bernhardt is a well known martial artist, But he plays it much too over the top as the villain. He was wooden and his potentially classic showdown with Chuck is never delivered, what a shame.

Bottom Line. The Cutter is yet, another terrible DTV Action film. No thrills,no excitement, boring dialog and amateurish acting. Not recommended unless you want to cure your insomnia.

Very Good End to a Legend's Career.
LarryVT-334856 February 2020
The Cutter is basically the last action film starring the great Chuck Norris before he decided to retire from Hollywood altogether outside of a rare appearance here and there like in Expendables 2. Now, the movie is a Nu Image produced film, and they are known for mostly producing straight to DVD movies and I am guessing this was a straight to DVD distribution in 2005.

Anyway, right to the point. Definitely a decent to very good action movie for Chuck Norris to end on a high note. He plays a guy coming to the rescue of an aging man who worked cutting jewelry. The Cutter, played by Love Boat great Bernie Koppell is kidnapped and forced to cut two stones into a certain type of stone and here is where Chuck comes into the story and tries to rescue him and, I don't want to spoil it but you know the rest, Chuck always comes through.

The villain in this is Daniel Bernhart, from the awful Bloodsport part 3 - 5 movies. He does a decent job playing the villain and has a damn good final fight scene with our hero Chuck Norris.

It's a simple story, not much meat into this but The Cutter is an enjoyable action film to watch on a boring day. It's main attraction would be that this was the final action film starring one of the icons of the genre in Chuck Norris.

The Cutter
coltras356 November 2022
After a deadly kidnapping rescue gone wrong, a guilt ridden detective (Chuck Norris) goes out on his own to successfully rescue an aged diamond cutter from the hands of a murderous thief. With the kidnapped man's niece Elizabeth aiding in his rescue, Shep learns the diamond cutter perfected his skill during his years as an Auschwitz prisoner. Shep must learn the truth about the cutter's past to unravel the clues and rescue him before it is too late.

Being a fan of old school-style action films I enjoyed this Chuck Norris actioner, his last film before retirement, which could have been released in the 1980's. At 65, Chuck has still got the moves, kicking the bad guys, throwing them out of the window. His showdown with Daniel Bernhardt is quite good. Incidentally, Bernhardt makes a good villain, a chameleon-like character, a master of disguises. The Nazi and diamond-related story makes a change from the usual terrorist storyline, there's some good action, and a fast-paced plot, though the editing can be a bit jumpy and the story a little confusing. The Cutter is not exactly at the level of Code of Silence/Lonewolf McQuade, but it's better than any of late 80's-early 90's Norris films (Hitman, Sidekick, Hellbound etc.)

A clean cut!
Sherazade22 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I remember when I was much younger, my dad was such a fan of Chuck Norris and we used to watch his kick arse films all the time. So when I found this film on the rack at my local video store, I couldn't resist renting it. I wasn't disappointed.

The plot follows the life of a young woman and her grandfather (a Holocaust survivor) who are both expert jewel cutters. One day, the old man is kidnapped by a sinister man who has stolen an ancient Jewish artifact and plans on using the old man to cut design and cut the artifact to his specifications. A chanced meeting with Chuck Norris's Private Investigator character helps save both the life of the grand-daughter and that of her grand-father.

Cutter
wtrZ3428 October 2006
This is another good one coming from Chuck Norris. It is his usual good work, great cast, great script and the cast and crew to go along with it! (some of who show up quite regularly with him from show to show, movie to movie). Maybe that is part of his success as well as due to the success of his TV and Movie work! Unfortunately for me, I kept this one in it's wrapper for way too long, which is odd considering if it's "Chuck Norris" it barely makes it home before it's put into the player! I guess I had too many WTR's on tape (all of them) as well as all of his regular as well as for TV movies in the house to watch any time the feeling hits me! I know the real reason so I guess I'll share it with all of you.....I didn't know how to use the DVR thing that came with our cable system! (and Cutter was on CD not VCR! So now you know.....and now you know it had nothing to do with the actual Cutter show!

Chuck Norris takes on the Nazis
johnyoshinobu13 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Chuck Norris has been around for a long time. Some know him from his Karate days, he was world champion for 6 years in the late 60s early 70s Most of us saw him first in 1972 in Way of the Dragon (he was a minor villain). If you missed that he stared in about 20 films from the late 70s to early 90s. Then he had the long running TV show Walker Texas Ranger. In 2005 he made his final movie, this is that movie. Its pretty good for a 65 year old action star who is given one of the worst scripts of all time. Spoilers Below Chuck Norris is a private investigator who specializes in missing persons cases. A girls uncle gets kidnapped by neo Nazis to cut two demands of religious significance to the Jewish people (he is Jewish and what a victim of the Holocost) Chuck Norris finds him and kills Nazis. Thats about it. The acting is decent, the dialog is bad, the story has loopholes big enough to drive a semi truck through. But at the end of the day its good, cheep fun. I got it for five dollars and don't regret it in the least. I advise you do the same. I also apologize for any spelling mistakes.
