Hitchcock and Dial M (2004)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Another very good featurette in Warner's Alfred Hitchcock series. This one here takes a look at the making of DIAL M FOR MURDER and features interviews with Peter Bogdanovich, Robert Osborne, Richard Franklin, M. Night Shyamalan, Pat Hitchcock and Richard Schickel among others. We start off with Bogdanovich talking about what Hitchcock told him about wanting to make the film and then we move on with the production. Bogdanovich, who interviewed Hitchcock several times, talks about why he feels the movie is so strong and even goes as far to say that it features the best work from both Ray Milland and Grace Kelly. Shyamalan talks about the influence that Hitchcock has had on him and he too goes into detail about why the murder sequence works so well. Overall if you're a fan of the film then you're going to enjoy this documentary that clocks in at 22-minutes. There are some very good stories told and each person argues why this wasn't just an "average" Hitchcock movie and talks about it really was something special.
