The Orange British Academy Film Awards 2005
jboothmillard9 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I always look forward to both the BAFTA television and film awards, but the film awards are definitely my favourite ceremony, especially if I have seen the films nominated, so I can hope certain ones win. 2005 saw some great films nominated and winning the famous golden mask award, in all the categories: Best Film, Best British Film, Best Leading Actor, Best Leading Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Screenplay, Best Music, the Fellowship award, Outstanding British Contribution To Cinema, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Editing, Best Film not in the English Language, Best Makeup & Hair, Best Production Design, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Short Film and Best Short Animation. Films nominated and winning in this year included: The Aviator, Closer, Collateral, Dead Man's Shoes, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Finding Neverland, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, House of Flying Daggers, The Manchurian Candidate, The Merchant of Venice, Monster, The Motorcycle Diaries, Ray, Shaun of the Dead, Sideways, Spider-Man 2 and Vera Drake. It also included a tribute to all the filmmakers and stars who had passed away in the last year, including Elmer Bernstein, Howard Keel, Jerry Goldsmith, Ronald Reagan and Marlon Brando. Stars seen at the ceremony, and nominated or winning, included Mischa Barton, Cate Blanchett, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig, Richard Gere, Goldie Hawn, Anjelica Huston, Sienna Miller, Helen Mirren, Clive Owen, Keanu Reeves, Martin Scorsese and Christian Slater. Very good!
