Well told, fascinating story
jimlesses24 April 2013
This film screened today (Anzac Day, 2013) on NITV (National Indigenous Television). It tells the true story of "Little Eva", a USAAF B-24 Liberator which crashed on 2 December 1942 north-west of Burketown, Queensland, after running out of fuel. The story is told both in the words of Staff Sergeant Grady Gaston, one of the survivors, and just as importantly through the eyes of some of the Aboriginals who helped rescue Grady Gaston. To learn more about the incident and what happened to the survivors of the crash, just Google 'Staff Sergeant Grady Gaston'. It is a fascinating story, and one I was not aware of until today.
