Fun to watch
planktonrules8 September 2009
Like Bruno Bozzetto's other films, the graphics of this short are definitely not the reason to watch. Graphically, it's very simple--with slightly squiggly lines and a hastily drawn appearance. However, despite not being the prettiest film (with a strong 1970s style), it is quite funny and well worth seeing.

The film is all about mosquitoes all trying to bite people and drink blood--a rather simple concept that Bozzetto and his staff all managed to milk for all its worth (and then some). Sure, the film goes on a bit too long, but because there is so much funny stuff, you don't mind the excess. Again and again, the bugs fail in their quest until later in the film--then things get a bit weird. I loved the scene late in the film when the mosquitoes are all in church--praying fervently. It's all very cute.

The only complaint I have is that this cartoon (and one other I saw recently) didn't do its homework--male mosquitoes are not blood suckers--only the females. Oops.
