Sex & Nudity

  • Lots of cleavages
  • In one specific area, if you talk to a character, they will ask you if you know what the fine for necrophilia is.
  • Innuendo.
  • There are innuendoes and references throughout the game, but rarely are they blatantly sexual or perverted.
  • You have the ability to take everything from a dead body leaving them clad only in a loin cloth for males or a bra and panties for females.
  • No nudity, however there are some files about naked body which was unused in game. One of the reason ESRB changed its rating.

Violence & Gore

  • The Dark Brotherhood quest lines are completely optional, and very easy to avoid.
  • The zombies are pretty gory.
  • The game frequently sees the main character engage in combat with vast numbers of different animals and enemies.
  • Quests will often involve killing someone, legally or illegally.
  • Enemies will sometimes bleed when you kill them. Often, you can see a splash of blood of you shoot one with an arrow in a sneak attack. Also, there will often be a small puddle of blood left in the spot where your enemy was standing when you shot him or her.
  • Enemies will often cry out in pain or surprise when you kill them.
  • You can't do any visible damage to the body of your opponents.
  • Wolves will often attack you, and you can kill them, and they often yelp in pain. Also keep in mind that the appearance of a wolf in this game is a lot more cute and dog-like than in Skyrim, so killing them in this game might be a little more disturbing and seem a little more like animal cruelty.
  • Animals bleed a lot more in this game than in Skyrim. For some reason it seems to be the opposite for human deaths though.
  • Necromancer caves have many dead bodies and severed heads.
  • The Dark Brotherhood are all about killing innocent people.
  • In caves, however, you'll discover corpses is various states of decay and mutilation however the player can not inflict any mutilation.

Profanity

  • "Bastard" is used occasionally
  • "Ass" is used by an orc once
  • Some characters will sometimes use some milder swear words when you engage in conversation with them, but it is rare and swearing is not a common feature in the game.
  • Crap is the most common word.
  • "damn"
  • "dammit"

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters may drink various alcoholic beverages in the game. Temporarily, this will boost their health, but lower their acrobatic and athletic skills.
  • Characters may also drink bottles of an illegal drug called "skooma." Temporarily, this will boost their speed and strength, but lower their intelligence and agility.
  • This is not shown explicitly and your character cannot get "drunk" because the game refuses to let you drink many potions or alcohol. It's no worse than Morrowind.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Following the missions in the game often sees you moving through dark places like caves which some people may find scary.
  • Some of the creatures you encounter can also be quite scary for some people, specifically the zombies which have a rotting, mutilated look.
  • The plains of Oblivion are a hell-like realm and some players will find it creepy and/or scary.
  • Parts of the plains of Oblivion have severed and bloodied heads stuck on poles, as well as some bloodied corpses.
  • There are also sections in the game which involve fighting ghosts/phantoms, and some players may find the ghosts scary.
  • In the Shivering Isles Downloadable Content Pack, the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath, can quickly change mood to a roaring maniac.
  • These changes are unpredictable, and sometimes he makes threaths, such as ''Ta, come back again, Or I'll pluck out your eyes!'' and other detailed suggestions.
  • The first level is the most violent in the game.
