With his debut novel, Meat, Joseph D'Lacey burst onto the horror scene with a novel that prompted Stephen King to exclaim, "D'Lacey rocks!" We recently got to sit down with Joseph to talk about his career and the return of both Meat and Garbage Man via a brand new publisher.
The first pertinent question for any professional wordsmith is exactly what got them into pursing creative endeavours for a living. For D'Lacey, the love for writing had always been there, but took time to fully blossom.
He mused, "I think I've always had a writer's nature, I suppose, and the thing for me was that I didn't really pursue it until later in life. I was probably around thirty, really, before it got started. I'd always been a diarist, a journalist and written poetry and all those sort of things, but I didn't really turn my hand to fiction until probably when I was thirty,...

This weekend, 2nd and 3rd November 2012, sees the birth of Autumn: Horror in the East, a brand new, free to attend, horror fiction convention to be held in the seaside town of Lowestoft, Suffolk, the setting for Them or Us, the final book in British author David Moody’s recently concluded Hater trilogy (the film rights for which were picked up by Pan's Labyrinth director and horror auteur Guillermo del Toro). Named after Moody’s innovative quintet of zombie apocalypse novels, the convention will be held at the town’s Aspire Centre and will play host to a dozen of the genre’s best writers, including Joseph D’Lacey, Joseph Freeman, Adam Baker, Iain McKinnon, Adam Millard, Conrad Williams, Andrew Hook, Paul S. Huggins, Sean T. Page and David Moody himself.

We hold in our hands the covers for DC Comics this March. As a child of four can plainly see, these comics have been hermetically sealed in a Cgc 9.8 slab, and they’ve been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar under a giant pile of Christmas tinsel since noon today.
What do we have worth noting? The first fill-in artist on Justice League, although Gene Ha is certainly no slouch in that department. We also have new writers on Firestorm and Green Arrow, new backups in Justice League and Action Comics, and the DC 52 hits lucky number 7.
Shall we see who is the fariest of them all? Oh indeedy, let’s do!
As usual, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

We hold in our hands the covers for DC Comics this February. As a child of four can plainly see, these comics have been hermetically sealed in a Cgc 9.9 slab, and they’ve been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar under a giant stack of returned copies of Holy Terror since noon today.
What do we have worth noting? The new look of Darkseid, and we’re far enough into the new 52 books that it’s time for Batman to start crossing over in all of them. Plus Mara Jade, the red-haired assassin who fell in love with her blond-haired man she was sent to kill– oh, I’m sorry, that’s from Star Wars. This is Mera in a jade outfit. Our mistake.
Shall we? Surely!
As usual, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

Once again, a look into the future, with some very interesting looks at the past, including the reprinting of a comic that was never released in America in the first place, the infamous Elseworlds 80 Page Giant that was pulped because of concerns about Superman’s babysitter.
And of course, a whole lot of #3 issues, which is traditionally the issue where Spider-Man guest stars.
Shall we? Surely!

O'Rourke's was our stage, and we displayed our personas there nightly. It was a shabby street-corner tavern on a dicey stretch of North Avenue, a block after Chicago's Old Town stopped being a tourist haven. In its early days it was heated by a wood-burning pot-bellied stove, and ice formed on the insides of the windows. One night a kid from the street barged in, whacked a customer in the front booth with a baseball bat, and ran out again. When a roomer who lived upstairs died, his body was discovered when maggots started to drop through the ceiling. A man nobody knew was shot dead one night out in back. From the day it opened on December 30, 1966 until the day I stopped drinking in 1979, I drank there more or less every night when I was in town. So did a lot of people.

After checking out their recent release, Voodoo Trucker (read the review here), Fangoria Musick's resident dark-rock aficionado, Doctor Raven, sought out the self-professed "Scariest Band in the World" to get inside their heads and find out what makes these Psychobilly animals tick.
Below you'll find the Doctor's exclusive interview with Deadbolt.
With the acclaim currently being gained by many acts in the Northwest, my little batch of patchouli-stinking heaven is starting to become the first (maybe second) stop for many Goth, Industrial, and Psychobilly acts starting the West Coast leg of their tours. And for these bands, there's no better place to do that than in Diablo’s Downtown Lounge, a creepy little dive affectionately referred to by locals as “The Satan Room.” Diablo’s works diligently to attract the best acts as they make their way through Oregon.

I met John McHugh in the autumn of 1966, when I was a cub reporter on the Sun-Times and he was a rewrite man, two years my senior, on the Chicago Daily News. We are still best friends. He worked the overnight shift, and among his duties was taking calls from readers. After midnight, they wanted to settle bets. "And what do you say?" McHugh would ask. He would listen, and then reply, "You're 100% correct. Put the other guy on." Pause. "And what do you say?" Pause. "You're 100% correct." If he was asked for his name, he said, "John T. Greatest, spelled with three Ts."
One night in autumn 1969 we found ourselves in the Old Town Gate, three blocks from our customary posts at O'Rourke's Pub. "I had my first job in Chicago here," he reminisced. "I invented the Roquefort Burger. Somebody ordered a cheeseburger and I, being a dumb Mick,...

Filmmaker Hart D. Fisher gave Fango the details about the latest arm of his American Horrors project, currently a TV show spotlighting independent scream fare that airs throughout Europe. He’s now moving into the DVD field, with a series of titles set to come out under the American banner via Todd Taylor’s Indie-Pictures.
First up will be a disc of Fisher’s own serial-killer feature The Garbage Man, arriving in June, followed by a new title every month, including a new director’s cut of Indie-Pictures’ previous release Nobody Loves Alice. The first season of the American Horrors show will also be issued as a 10-disc set in October. “This distribution agreement, along with our foreign broadcast television deals, is a major step forward in our development of the American Horrors brand as a worldwide entity that performs as a production house, a distribution company and horror content provider across multiple platforms,...
