Drew Casper states that "The Wizard of Oz" was first telecast on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. It was first shown on television on November 3, 1956, which was a Saturday, and only the first Saturday in November. Thanksgiving is always on the last Thursday of November.
When we see the "The End" credit of "The Wizard of Oz", we see it on a simulated telecast on an old 1950's TV set. This credit was never shown on earlier CBS telecasts of the film; instead, what was shown was a title card manufactured by CBS displaying the title "The Wizard of Oz". The "The End" credit did not begin to appear on the telecasts until the film moved from CBS to NBC.
Most of the telecast times shown on the screen are Central Standard Time broadcasts, not the better-known E.S.T. broadcasts.
A questionable poster shown announces that "The Wizard of Oz" will be telecast on NBC February 12. However, it was never telecast on NBC on that date. It *was* shown on February 12, 1967, but on CBS, not NBC. This was the last time that CBS showed it before it went to NBC. They reclaimed the film in 1976.
