Average Teletoon Show
gabrielkoot20 July 2018
Sons of Butcher was not great but it wasn't a bad way to waste a half hour either. It was never hilarious but some of the jokes were actually funny. Didn't love the animation or voice work and it never really got better than an average 5/10 show but certainly a lot better than a lot of other Canadian shows on Teletoon.

Pee your pants laughing!

Warning: Spoilers
If you're from Canada, love music, meat and silly quirky comedy you'll love this show! It's about two brothers Sol and Ricky Butcher and their best friend Doug Borski, The janitor(Adopted by an African tribe after his genetic parents were eaten by a 5 legged lion then *Spoiler* his African parents were eaten by the same 5 legged lion) then he was sent to SteelTown Canada and adopted by Arpo Butcher (Sol and Rickys' Dad) who then was squished into a meaty pulp in a butchery accident.

In each episode each of the guys face a problem or a situation they might take on their own, or together which causes them to go on many hilarious meat packed adventures! If you don't get offended by dead animals, sexual innuendo and a few more FUN things you'll love this show, in fact(In case you didn't know) Jay Ziebarth is Zeebarf and in case you don't know who he is, he is a popular internet artist who has won a few awards along the way, Zeebarf designs all the characters and... well read the casting in the episode "Lovin' the Granny" you will notice many characters from his popular game "Disorderly" Watch the show, and bring a fresh pair of slacks as well!

One of the best shows Teletoon has done
Mr_Analog24 May 2007
Teletoon hasn't produced a lot of programming in the last decade. The titles it has, haven't all be stellar hits either, in fact I would even say that most haven't. Lately however (and with the advent of inexpensive Flash-based animation techniques no doubt) they've had a string of well written, well executed programs. "Sons of Butcher" is among this new breed of Teletoon fare. Production-wise it combines live action with animation in a unique way that takes advantage of both the flexibility of animation and the natural comedic talents of Jay Ziebarth, Dave Dunham & Trevor Ziebarth. Of course, In my opinion, the show actually made "The Detour" (Teletoon's late night animated fare for us bigger kids) something more than just 5 year old Fox/Cartoon Network reruns that I've actually meant to tune into intentionally and not accidentally. Granted, I'll be quick to admit that the show is definitely not for everyone, but it's at the top of its game. Witty, edgy, entertaining, intensely funny and above all else quintessentially Canadian.

The story revolves around the mishaps of a pair of brothers and their friend who inherit a butcher shop from their deceased father, apparently the trio also inherited the "spirit of rock" and have formed a band (aptly named "Sons of Butcher"). They go about their absurd daily business in the strange world of Steeltown, trying to make it big as a band or just dealing with the problems in their daily lives (which again, for them tends to be off the wall).

The show lives somewhere between "Trailer Park Boys", "Kids in the Hall" and "This Is Spinal Tap" and manage to deliver some the best dialogue since the first season of "Family Guy". If you can grep absurdest humour, you have no fear of ass and tittie jokes and you wanna hear some hilariously rockin' music then you might want to check out the S.O.Bs.

The first season of the show is available on DVD and the second season is currently airing on Teletoon. Sadly, like many other programs that could have been more, the series has been cancelled by Teletoon in a move that confuses both the Sons of Butcher and their fans.

Pre-dates Dethklok/Metalocalypse, and paved the way for cartoon music bands in the new century!
Crater792820 February 2019
A Canadian underground cult classic in its own right, Sons of Butcher burst onto the scene earlier this century, and with their incredible brand of Canadian hard rock and "interesting" butchery of quality meats, the Butcher boys butchered their way across Canada with a great tour, bringing meat & rock to the masses.

Produced by Steve "Red Green" Smith's S&S Productions, Sol, Ricky, and Doug quickly became household names across Canada, both with the Sons of Butcher cartoon on TeleToon as well as a number of successful albums and a tour that spanned the entirety of Canada, with nearly every performance completely selling out and packing houses from coast to coast.

Currently as of early 2019, the cast are looking to crowdfund a new season of episodes of the series as well as a new album of songs and the possibility of touring again with the new album through a Patreon campaign.

Fans of Metalocalypse and that show's band Dethklok will definitely love Sons of Butcher, as the humour and music come dangerously close to each other, guaranteeing great laughs and great music for those who seek it in the Sons of Butcher.

Enjoy!

Great old school pre-political correctness Comedy!
brettjeholmes20 September 2021
This is an absolute gem of a show with some flaws (some episodes are better than others). With so much lazy animation these days, the wacky newgrounds flash animation style is refreshing in 2021.
