a great film by a great director
I saw this film four or five times when I was stationed in rural Thailand with the Peace Corps. Every new person I met, I'd say "You've got to see this movie" It is one of the best romantic comedies ever made...anywhere.Actually, it uses the romantic comedy format as a device, to make a very cynical point about love and the pursuit of goals. It has a cynical twist at the end. Biek Poster is one of the greatest director in Thailand, Hell, he's one of the greatest directors in the world. I love what he did in the scene with the dog. And the music is great. The beautiful "Na Raak{" translates "Lovely" or in this case "cute" is better is a beautiful tune. And the song "Sukha Yu Hong Day?" which became a big hit on all the Thai juke boxes sums up the theme of the whole movie. Anticipation leading to big disappointment, but all told in a very humorous way. If they released this flick in the US it would win a nomination for best foreign language movie
