I Love Daisy!
SarahGrrl51311 January 2006
I have to say that I think this show is extremely funny. When I was watching the one where she was showing dogs I was laughing so hard I was crying. Maybe the humor is "stupid" but I find it refreshing to see a WOMAN who can make you laugh and who isn't afraid to make an ass out of herself in the process. I like the very laid back stupid humor. I have to watch show after show and movie after movie of men acting like immature idiots. Lets see the women step up and be funny without being bitchy or bossy the way Daisy does. She seems like she would be a fun person to hang out with. It seems to me like she is making fun of the people she encounters as much making fun of herself in an non hurtful way. I think she would be a fun person to hang out with and I cant say that about most of the people I see on these other shows. And heres something, if you don't like it change the channel!

Show is Great! TBS is the wrong audience
Awilli19808 May 2006
The show is amazing. Daisy Donovan is a genius. She is so quick-witted, and I just love the concept of the show. I don't understand how someone would find this show offensive. She's not exploiting anyone who doesn't want to be on TV. I just think that when people lied to her and told her she was good, she tried harder to stand out in a bad way. Furthermore, when the rap artists were honest and told her she was awful, she knew that they were not going to be fooled, so she really began trying her best to become better because they were giving her really sound advice. She works with what she gets and she's extremely funny, so it makes for a great show.

I think TBS is the wrong target audience in general, but I really feel there is an audience for this show and I hope they find it. I also they let me know when they do!

A Near-Complete Failure
Domenico2224 December 2005
I first remembered seeing commercials for this TV show and saying to myself, "This sounds pretty interesting. I think it just might be good." Boy, was I totally wrong. The show has a great lead actress, Daisy Donovan, but the entire show idea relies completely on her comedic humor, and at some point her accent and constant speaking among other Americans gets very old, very quickly.

A show like this just goes to show you that there are some ideas for shows that sound good, but put into the wrong format can be devastatingly bad. Courtney Cox and David Arquette are doing the right thing by trying to come up with new ideas, but this one was totally bad. Hopefully we aren't exposed to this utter waste for much longer.

The only reason why it's not a complete failure is because it exposes us to Daisy Donovan, who has a quick wit and good humor. I look forward to seeing her in other TV shows or possibly movies, but you won't be seeing many people liking her through this role.

Painfully Unfunny
v1nig10 June 2006
There's absolutely no comedy to be found in this program. All of Daisy's antics look forced and the people she works with look like they have scripts. A humorist that is recommended by executive producers like Courtney Cox and her hubby David Arquette, well that pretty much sums it up for you. I never enjoyed "Friends" and can't imagine what Ms. Cox was thinking when she signed on to produce this show. I saw Daisy Donovan in "Millions," now that's a movie you should go see. If anything, it redeems her from her pathetic comedy. I miss Whose Line is it Anyway, wish TBS would syndicate that show instead of featuring ridiculously unfunny original bs like Daisy does America. 1/10

Daisy is delightful!

After being forced to view months of trailers for this new show by the Arquettes, I swore never to watch it out of principle. However, tonight (too sick to get up and find the remote!) I caught the "beauty contest" and "dog show" episodes. This show is very simple in concept, but it works because Daisy is so endearing. Some viewers object to the show because they feel it exploits everyday, unsuspecting people. The humor is in how they react to her. No one will tell her if she is making a complete ass of herself! Hilarious! Daisy comes across as being sincere and enthusiastic, so sometimes it's hard to know when/if she is being sarcastic. Very dry, very British, it's great stuff!

Hilarious Show
ryboylv28 December 2005
I had to post this comment in stark disagreement with the negative comment posted. I think "Daisy Does America" is hilarious, and Daisy Donovan delivers a smart and witty performance. If you enjoy watching the correspondent bits in The Daily Show with Jon Stewart where an interviewee doesn't seem to realize that the interviewer is poking fun at them, then you'll enjoy this show as well. Daisy does much the same thing in a different context. However, whereas the Daily Show heavily edits their interviews to make them funnier, Daisy pokes the same fun at herself and the people she meets in a seemingly improvisational way.

I have to admit that the previews for the show didn't have me too excited, but once I gave the show a chance I found myself laughing the whole time. Daisy Donovan has been comedy gold in the UK for years, and she delivers just as well in this new show (not to mention that she made FHM's top 100 sexiest women three times which makes for comedy with a pretty face). Fans of British comedy will especially enjoy this show.

Warning: Spoilers
daisy does America is the funniest , sorta reality show I've seen. her accent cracks me up. every episode just gets funnier and funnier. i can re watch episodes with tbs on demand. you go daisy. Courteney and David are great producers and this show hands down wins.when friends ended i thought Courteney was going to leave the spotlight. daisy brought her back. i hope the DVD comes out soon with all the episodes. shes funny, ditsy, and very British. she doesn't quite fit the American text. her ditsy behavior makes me laugh out loud. in the episode where she tries to be a rapper at the end at the poetry class , that was hilarious. I'm a mother fu*k*r lyrical gangster's, so don't mess with me!

Daisy Doesn't
RJBose15 December 2005
The premise is apparently supposed to be an English person intrigued with American culture who seeks to learn more and assimilate; (Alistar Cook had such a program). This pile of rubbish (as our English friends might say) is nothing but a contrived one-joke insult to the audience.

Daisy, shamelessly stealing the schtick of her former colleague "Ali G", seeks to find humor in asking stupid questions with a straight face to unsuspecting people (and then wildly mugging for the camera). Example: claiming she wants to become "a star" she is shown walking the streets of Hollywood asking passers by if they can "make her a star". The humor in this is severely constrained by the fact that she is being trailed by a camera and sound crew, making her motives obvious (particularly in LA, home to "reality television". We see her squealing and running awkwardly from some pigs on a hog farm in another episode; (wasn't this scene directly lifted from Paris Hilton's "Real Life"?)

Finding interlocutors with strong and difficult to understand accents, and eccentric organizations to make fun of seems to be the general theme of this lamentable failure of an entertainment program. Daisy did not have to come all the way across the Atlantic to find such victims, but the Arquettes themselves are so out of touch with the US and "regular people" ensconced in their Hollywood redoubt that they are at least equally to blame. Daisy does America? Please don't.

Daisy Doesn't Do America.
compustitch-116 December 2005
After seeing endless commercials on TBS for this show I'd imagined that it would be terrible. I wasn't disappointed. After watching the first episode (only because it followed Sex and the City) I can truly say that it was worse than terrible. Quite possibly the worse TV show I've ever seen. It would be a shock if this show makes it into the New Year.

Blaming Daisy herself wouldn't be entirely fair. While she does have talent she seems like a fish out of water on American television. The shows creators : Courtenay Cox and David Arquette should be ashamed of themselves for bringing us this schlock. I would hope that TBS sees this show for what it is and gets rid of it ASAP.

Served by and for the lowest common denominator
billjsw19 December 2005
Daisy does America.

Hmmm, let's get a random English woman, send her to various middle-America locations where she'll obviously be out of her element and have her exploit these simple folks who have been exploited before (Daily Show, etc) and are inherently easy to make fun of anyway.

The joke(s) must be in the presentation. Yeah, right.

The forced attempt at humor is painful to sit through. Yet another "reality" show (read : who needs writers) that misses the mark. Donovan is painfully unfunny as...herself(?). Cox and Arquette produced this tripe. Which goes to show if you have the money...you will be indulged.

More low humor served by and for the lowest common denominator.

Worst Show on TV
daisysucks16 January 2006
I'm not one to complain about TV shows, esp when I have the option of simply changing the channel but this show is absolutely the worst show ever made.

All this show does is play on the stupidity of Americans, they take ordinary (or somewhat eccentric) Americans and put them in awkward and uncomfortable situations while at the same time completely slandering and embarrassing them. Daisy, the "host" of this "show" is completely useless and is more embarrassing to the UK than anything...

Mark these very words you are reading, this show WILL be cancelled by the season's end - it's terrible. Patriot or not, it pains me to even have to watch a commercial for this horrible "comedy" - the only thing Courtney Cox did right was sign on with friends, after that, it's all been downhill.

Horrible, horrible show. WORST EPISODES EVER (simpsons fans you know what i'm talking about).

PS - shaking someone's hand for extended period of time...I mean, HOW IS THAT FUNNY??? Not that TBS is known for winners or anything...

Offensive
no_spm_brazil1 January 2006
If the Arquettes thought this show would appeal to the general public, then it's obvious they are completely out of touch. There is nothing funny or clever about ridiculing country folks or inner city kids for a cheap laugh. Daisy exploits these peoples' good nature as they welcome her into their communities to help Daisy achieve her bogus American "dream."

Daisy (and her producers) say that she's not afraid to embarrass herself, when it's obvious from watching the show that she is trying to make her guests look stupid with her attempted behind-the-back sarcasm and ridicule. Nevertheless, the Arquettes, Daisy, and TBS are the only ones being humiliated.

That being said, Daisy is just not very funny either: shaking some guys hand for five minutes, bugging her eyes at the camera, and running around like a lost child. None of that is original or very funny. Her dry attempt at slapstick humor would make the Three Stooges (and Benny Hill) cringe.

Maybe Daisy would be funny in another setting, but the whole premise of this show is offensive and definitely NOT funny.

The most painfully unfunny television show in the history of humanity.
KingHater22 December 2005
I apologize for being blunt, but if you enjoy watching "Daisy Does America," you desperately need to get out more. Seriously - if this agonizingly untalented woman can be given her own show, you might as well give one to my mom, as well. She's middle-aged, too, and like the show's namesake, frequently embarrasses herself and others in her attempts to be funny.

**An important note regarding the principal reason for this show's blinding, stifling lack of quality:

While most people on here accuse "Daisy" of lifting its premise from "Da Ali G. Show", in actuality this is a shameless CARBON COPY of the very great "Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends" on BBC2, albeit stripped of the razor-sharp wit and profound social commentary. Oh, and subbing in a painful-to-watch host in place of Mr. Theroux himself. Rent the source material if you want to see this sort of thing done right.

Anyway, may it be canceled as quickly as it deserves.

A failed attempt at humour
williaml277 December 2005
Absolutely speechless. What can be said about a show like this? Nothing comes to mind, I just sit in "aw" and ponder how easy it is to get a pilot passed these days. A failed attempt at humour and most definitely a soon to fail pilot.

I can't begin to express the pointlessness and mindless banter that Daisy talks about. "Who, Who, Who let the dogs out?" I'm sorry, I missed the part where we're supposed to laugh. As awkward as this sounds, the shows puns are without pun. Watching her show is like listening to Lil' john rap, you get all hyped from the beat, but then you realise that all he says is "yyyeeaahhh", "hokaaayy" and " WHHAATT!". One step away from the infamous Paris Hilton - The Simple Life, only without eye candy. Tough break Daisy, I hope you didn't quit your day job.

Great Show
urtousetomyhoney31 December 2005
I have seen several episodes of this show. It is hilarious. No episode of South Park or Family guy comes even close to being as shocking and humorous as Daisy Does America. There is typical British humor, but it is pretty much universal. I think everybody will find this show funny. I found the episode in which Daisy goes to Compton to be a battle rapper the funniest. Show airs on TBS, and I recommend it to all. You won't be disappointed. Daisy Dnavon is the funniest lady from the UK aside from Jennifer Saunders, and I hope her show is successful. I think Daisy Does American is the best work of Courtney Arquette and husband.

I love this show
sgrjackson111 February 2006
I'm glad I happened to catch an episode of "Daisy Does America" because I hadn't heard about it before, and I really would have been missing out. Daisy Donovan is such a naturally funny girl and this show is honestly one of the funniest I've seen lately. She's not making fun of people, like some other users have commented on. I don't find myself laughing at the people on this show or mocking them, I just laugh at Daisy and the way she goes about achieving her "dreams." This show is just funny. It's not mean or nasty, it's just fun. I think it might be more humorous for girls just because it reminds us (or me at least) of times with our girlfriends. My husband doesn't think it's funny at all, but he doesn't laugh at the jokes me and my girlfriend's make either. I love Daisy, I think she's refreshing and I'd rather hang out with her than watch Comedy Central any day.

Absolute Crap!
misscubba314 December 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This is just ridiculous waste of air time. Being British I must say that this is not what 'our humour' is all about. Every time this show was advertised in the USA my husband and I just cringed. It was advertised on the TV as the works of Courteney Cox-Arquette and husband David. Well I understand that Courteney obviously is under pressure to produce something since 'Friends' to make her over the top buck seem well earned, but stick what you are good at, sitcoms, that is also a matter of opinion I realise (?!) Maybe viewers will enjoy this in USA, and maybe this is what the USA does want as far as a dose of British humour goes. If not, like me then I can recommend 'Little Britain' this will give you a more accurate dose of what we are all about.

Daisy does it
travisvincent19 December 2005
I just recently watched two episodes of "Daisy does America" that i had saved on tivo. I knew i would probably like this show but for some reason it sat unwatched on my tivo for about two weeks. When i did finally view one episode "Star" i have to admit, i laughed my ass off. the sight of a grown woman using Britney spears as her icon, singing the song "I touch myself" to a child at a talent show. Hilarious. the second episode i watched was "Bounty Hunter" it was pretty funny as well. Daisy isn't adding anything new to the mix in terms of pop culture, she is however, really funny to watch. Produced by Courtney Cox and David Arquette, the show is about a British lady who loves American culture. she decides to come to the USA and do everything America has to offer. again, this stuff is pretty funny.
