Earliest known version of "Madame Sans-Gêne", filmed many times after. Another version of this play in 1912 also starred Gabrielle-Charlotte Réjane as the title character.
This film was presented in the Photo-Cinema-Theatre sound system, which used Lioretographe cylinders to provide the sound.
Exhibited as part of a program of synchronized sound films at the Paris Exhibition of 1900. Despite the novelty of sound (and stencil color in some of the films), the program was not financially successful.
Gabrielle Réjane's debut.
