Ritual Entertainment had wanted to do a sequel to SIN for many years and many times came close to starting development of it. Ritual was not prepared to give away the legal rights to the franchise in exchange for publisher funding. When Valve Software, a former rival of Ritual's, launched the STEAM on-line distribution service Ritual saw it as the answer they were looking for. Valve would distribute the game on-line, and was not interested in taking their IP.
Project was self-funded.
First game to be released through the STEAM platform in episodic format.
The game was scheduled to be released worldwide on 10 May 2006 at 10am PST. However, some of the STEAM content servers were slightly behind schedule and many users had to wait as much as an extra half hour for their games to unlock. This is the first time STEAM has ever been late on a release.
Final project of Ritual Entertainment before being sold to MumboJumbo. Although teased at the end of the game, as of Feb 2010 no second episode of the series was ever released.
