Very comprehensive introduction to wine
I have very much enjoyed this wine course. Jancis Robinson is a true authority on wines and these series will show you why. The episodes are structured by grape variety. According to Ms. Robinson, the grape used by the wine maker and the technology applied in the process of wine making are more crucial to a wine than the soil ('terroir'). Terroir is highly acclaimed by the French (and Hugh Johnson, by the way). It's interesting to see how Ms. Robinson tries to unveil the myth of 'terroir'. She invites 'ancient world' wine producers to taste 'new world' wines, and vice versa. This course will help you to develop a basic understanding of wines. I couldn't resist to re-taste my own cellar after watching.
