- In this two-hour episode, "The Courier" newspaper reporter, Al Massey, has not returned from his latest assignment in Mexico. Massey is being held hostage by Malavida Valdez, one of a band of drug lords. The thugs terrorize poor mountain villages like San Rio Blanco, a town in the hills above Acapulco. Massey's friend and co-worker, Amy Allen, is also a reporter; and, she is worried her friend is dead. Amy asks another co-worker to research rumors circulating about "The A-Team." Amy is also told they must find a man named Manny Cortez, the last one to see Massey alive. An elite commando unit rumored to specialise in off-the-books, extra-judicial extractions and dangerous missions for hire, the A-Team is a group of Vietnam vets accused of robbing the Bank of Hanoi during the war. The A-Team is headed by Col. John "Hannibal" Smith, and includes Bosco Baracus or B.A. (short for "Bad Attitude"), their mechanical pro, Templeton Peck or "The Face," procurer and con-man, and Capt. HM Howling Mad Murdock, their pilot. The A-Team is being ruthlessly pursued by Col. Lynch, who is determined to bring the guys to justice for a crime it seems likely they did not commit (they are broke and constantly looking for work.) When Amy finds the A-Team, she convinces them to help her; she travels to Mexico with them, where they find Manny Cortez. The extraction morphs into "save the village" where Cortez lives. The antics and action are as unique as the individual members of the A-Team and they get the entire village involved. Like B.A. says, if you are not willing to fight for your own, you might as well be dead. And, nobody is brave enough to disappoint B.A.—LA-Lawyer
- The A-Team devises a movie company ploy in order to scam up the equipment they'll need for this mission, in part II of the series pilot. To that end, Hannibal decides to rile up Malavida Valdez by spraying his Marijuana crop with ammonia. When Valdez arrives at San Rio Blanco, the team has prepared a reception for him to drive him out of the villagers lives forever, but the plan backfires when a band of guerrilla insurgents shows up and aids Valdez to capture the A-Team. Now, the trick is not only to rescue Al Massey, but save their own necks as well.—R. Bernard Ment
- Amy Allen attempts to hire The A-Team, four soldiers-for-hire, to rescue her reporter friend Al Massey who has been captured by a Marijuana distributor and his gang of thugs. She doesn't fare too well at first. She gets the run-around from Murdock and Hannibal Smith until they determine that she's legit, then they accept the assignment. Unfortunately, money becomes an issue when Amy doesn't have time to raise the capital before the team departs, client in tow, for Mexico. The team improvises, however, which is something they always do best. Face manages to scam a jet and they're on their way.—R. Bernard Ment
