Very funny episode

Edina's ex-husband stops paying alimony.

This is a great episode that shows Edina for what she is and presents some hilariously bad character traits.

The plot is fairly simple as it puts Edina in a number of situations to showcase more outrageous behaviour. Her shallow nature and utter uselessness come to the forefront as a difficult financial situation presents itself.

I love the scene with her accountant, as both she and Patsy give great reactions to bad news and display some fantastic body language. Likewise the scenes driving, shopping and courtroom are excellent.

Both Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley are wonderful.

8.5/10 for me.

Edwina Monsoon's full name revealed
lestermay31 March 2009
Edina's full name is revealed as Edwina Margaret Rose Monsoon. It is highly likely that the names Margaret Rose were chosen because that was the full name of Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret (1930-2002), the younger sister of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (born 1926).

The character Edina was supposedly born on 6 August 1960. Exactly three months earlier, on 6 May 1960, Princess Margaret married Anthony Armstrong-Jones in Westminster Abbey, London, England, the first royal wedding to be broadcast on television in the UK. The then 29-year-old princess was already well known to the British public and, indeed, overseas, and she was to many a very attractive woman. Princess Margaret was a colourful figure and the royal wedding captured the public imagination. There were probably a number of girls named Margaret Rose around this period.

Hilarious conclusion to the "Birthday" episode.

Warning: Spoilers
"Poor" is the episode to wrap up some unfinished business that started in "Birthday." Ex-husbands Marshall and Justin took legal action, and Edina is no longer receiving alimony from them. Mrs. M. drops by to take inventory, and we learn she's gotten into a habit of stealing items from Edina's household. Saffy manages to get Edina to go into the office for a meeting with Edina's accountant. Patsy comes along to lend support. Bubble's at the office extra early (and mistakenly) due to a strike on the buses. Edina eventually gets fed up, and walks out of the meeting. Saffy seems to be having a mysterious nicotine fit when Justin daringly visits her at home. Harrods no longer delivers to the Monsoon household, so Edina and Patsy must go grocery shopping. Their hilarious confrontations and exploits lead them to an afternoon in court.

Another classic episode.

'Is this the car clamp club?'

Edina's alimony is cut off, she and Patsy have to make financial savings, not a feat that comes naturally.

I love series two, and this is yet another standout episode, they made a point of presenting Patsy and Eddie with new situations, we've had death, jealousy, and now poverty.

We get to see what happens to the extravagant and lavish lifestyle that the pair have comfortably enjoyed, being put to the sword.

Saffy and the patches is very funny, the courtroom scene is hilarious,

The economies are hilarious, and as you'd expect not the best, although credit to Eddie for choosing an Alpha Romeo Spider, for my money one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

10/10.
