Simms receives a postcard from 'Timothy Henshaw' ( George Benson ), a retired music hall performer, now living at the 'Sweet Lawns Old Citizens Nursing Home'. Henshaw claims strange things are going on there. With Adam in tow, Simms pays a visit, but Henshaw does not recall having sent the card! Why are there corpses buried in the grounds? Who is the impostor posing as Henshaw? Why are the residents virtual prisoners in the home? Just what is Dr.Heason up to in his operating theatre?
Dick Sharples is best remembered as the creator of the classic Thora Hird sitcom 'In Loving Memory', which might have made a suitable title for this dark tale. In Season 1, he wrote 'Ticket To Terror', and its events are referred to here in passing. 'Dr.Heason' ( Kenneth J. Warren ) is stealing the identities of dead old people to give to criminals, so that they will help him become incredibly rich by robbing stately homes! It is a clever idea - after all, who would suspect retired folk of being crooks?
Some witty dialogue helps the improbable plot along, particularly the opening exchange between Adam and Simms. The valet's embarrassment at being pursued by the Hattie Jacques-like Matron ( Sheila Burrell ) is hilarious.
No Georgina until the very end, but glamour is provided by the voluptuous Cyd Hayman ( 'Nina' of the wartime I.T.V. drama 'Manhunt' ) cast as 'Nurse Mary Smith'! Kenneth J.Warren's other television credits include 'Arthur' from the 'Steptoe & Son' episode 'Cuckoo In The Nest' and 'Warlock' in 'The Fiction Makers', a two-part 'Saint' adventure. Windsor Davies is 'Charlie', one of Heason's henchmen.
