The title is based on the catch phrase used by the Daily Planet editor Perry White when things are not going right: Great Caesar's Ghost!
This story received a loose comic book adaptation in 2015, the 60th anniversary of its airing, in an unlikely forum. A simulated Great Caesar's Ghost is a subplot of Sholly Fisch's story "Truth, Justice, and Scooby Snacks" in Scooby-Doo! Team-Up #9, where it takes Mystery Inc. to determine the culprit.
Although most commonly associated with Perry White, the exclamation "Great Caesar's Ghost!" was borrowed from popular use. In 1876, it appeared in Chapter 28 of Mark Twain's Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
