There is no need for radio silence during an attack. Radio silence is to prevent your position from being given away. Once the enemy is there, there's no reason for silence anymore.
In the opening scene during the attack a sailor grabs the end of a fire hose on a reel hanging on the bulkhead, and runs toward the fire. As he runs away, the hose comes off the hose reel. It wasn't attached to anything.
