Archie mentions having the last piece of pie "scheduled for Gunsmoke." Ironically, several years earlier Carroll O'Connor guest starred in two episodes of the iconic Western: The Wrong Man (1966) and Major Glory (1967). Gunsmoke aired on Mondays in 1970 (presumably the year the Stivics were married), so this episode took place on a Monday.
Despite that it was said only the "immediate family" would attend the wedding in the Bunker household, there are no less than five unidentified guests in attendance (two men and three women) who have no dialogue, who do not mingle with the regular cast, and who do not appear in the credits. One of the women is actress Peggy Rea, who previously appeared on "All in the Family" twice before as Archie's Cousin Bertha. (Note: One of the unidentified men was implied to be Mike's best man, Paul Goodrow).
For decades, this episode's epilogue had been edited out of the syndicated version, making it seem that Mike Evans being listed in the ending credits had been a "goof".
Michael Conrad, who played Mike's Uncle Cass, went on to play Sgt. Phil Esterhaus on the TV series "Hill Street Blues", whose iconic line at the end of each roll call was "Let's be careful out there."
