- Mayberry's own guitar celebrity Jim Lindsey returns, but he's not the conquering musical hero everyone thinks he is.
- Jim Lindsey, the once-wayward guitar player whom Andy helped start his musical career, returns to Mayberry a success with a brand new sports car and a hit single "Rock n' Roll Rosie from Raleigh." Everyone is excited to see the hometown boy that made good, but Andy gets wind of something strange. Within a day, the car disappears, and Ellie, Floyd and Jason report that, despite his "success," he seems to be charging a lot of his bills, and even asking Barney for money. Plus, as successful as he claims to be, he isn't receiving any mail. Andy gets in touch with Bobby Fleet, the bandleader who hired Jim, and learns that Jim walked away from the band after Bobby wouldn't make him a partner. Unable to make it on his own, Jim is flat broke with his car repossessed. Andy tries to talk to him about reconnecting with Bobby and the band, but Jim won't hear of it; so, as is tradition, Andy arrests Jim as a ruse to reconnect him with Bobby so that Jim can get his career going again. Bobby is willing to forgive, and eventually so is a reluctant Jim.—Jerry Dean Roberts <armchairoscars@hotmail.com>
- The town gives a big "Welcome Home" to Jim Lindsey, a local boy who became "prosperous and famous" playing guitar with Bobby Fleet's band. He's out on his own now and bragging about all the offers he's getting. Andy becomes suspicious, though, when he finds out Jim is not paying any of his bills and borrowing money. When he finds out Jim's not getting any mail either, he asks Bobby Fleet to come to town. Bobby tells him the whole story of Jim's split from the band but is ready to take Jim back. Andy catches Jim just as he's about to leave town and has to arrest him to get him to see Bobby, who pays his debts and offers him a raise to rejoin the band. Jim agrees and they shake on it.—bobbymaxwell
- The good folks of Mayberry welcome the return of Jim Lindsey, a local guitar player who has made it big playing for Bobby Fleet's band. Jim's driving a fancy car and, from all appearances, is quite prosperous, but Andy learns he no longer plays with Fleet's band and becomes suspicious when evidence suggests him going deeply in debt. Andy contacts Bobby Fleet to find out what is going on and learns the whole story. It turns out Jim's ego got the better of him, and when Fleet refused him the partnership he was demanding, he quit. Fleet will gladly have Jim back and Andy sets about making it happen.—garykmcd
