It was a locally-originated rerun of this episode that WNBC-TV in New York was airing on November 22, 1963, when news broke that President John F. Kennedy and Texas Governor John V. Connally had been shot in Dallas. At approximately 15 minutes into the rerun, NBC-TV utility announcer Don Pardo interrupted with an audio bulletin fed to both WNBC-TV locally and the NBC-TV Network throughout the Eastern, Central and Mountain Time Zones, and WNBC-TV news anchorman Bill Ryan began the NBC-TV network-wide coverage seven minutes after that.
