While watching this episode I thought someone was in the next room playing classical music over a piano. But to my astonishment, it was elegant music that was part of the background music for this episode. Not only was it unneeded but was extremely loud.
Two scene take the cake for the most annoying music during a scene in any western--- no, make that any show. The first was when Rita Marlowe (Ruta Lee) and Ben were talking in the den area of the Ponderosa. While they were talking- I could swear someone was in the room playing a piano for fun. The second was when Mase (The prizefighter) and Rita was outside discovering their love. It was like watching a drama that was also cut with a cartoon sound track.
The story involves the alcoholic Rita Marlowe that uses the love of a shy innocent retired fighter named Maze Sindell. Rita uses Maze so that she can escape the small town way-of-life and begin again in the big city. But it seems that Maze's love runs deeper that Rita ever thought.
They story was not really that bad but the back ground music made the whole show annoying. Ruta Lee was actually very good in her part. And the show ended with an upbeat feeling. But it could not escape the noise of the music.
