Joe gets the screen time in this one. Ben gets only a token appearance. Too bad Joe's friend has a husband who's a hostage of an outlaw gang. Episode contains similarities to John Wayne movies Hondo and Comancheros. These aren't the smartest outlaws. Then again if they were bright they wouldn't be heavies. This movie really has it all including an athletic performance by Michael Landon. Dueling maternal instincts are on display. A difference in this oater is a woman is among the cutthroat. John Ericson plays someone as mean as they come. Jason Evers plays a more complex role. The Western turns film noir as family concerns clash with greed.
